Virtual Baseball: Tanaka Stops the Athletics! Gaffes Fly On the Campaign Trail!

Virtual Masahiro Tanaka turned in another gritty effort tonight, holding the Athletics at least enough in

check for his Yankees teammates to successfully pummel the Bay Area bashers, beating Oakland by

9-5.  

Miguel Andujar, Mike Ford, and Gio Urshela contributed home runs from the Yankees, who never trailed

in the game.

The evening had a special resonance for Tanaka, as Yankees' caudillo Hal Steinbrenner decided to 

commemorate the 75th anniversary of the atomic bomb attack on Hiroshima.  The decision by the 

Yankees to celebrate the day as "the culmination of an amazing feat of American science and 

technology" was criticized in many places, though it was defended by President Trump in an executive

tweet from a secure location.

"What, what's wrong with saying that?  The science WAS very hard, very very very difficult science,"

went the executive message.  "That's why I'm renewing my call for the Dept. of Energy to investigate

how we can use A-bombs to stop hurricanes, and maybe redirect them to Cuba or France."

Meanwhile, his opposite number on the campaign trail, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden,

remarked that nefarious activity by foreign nationals was threatening the Great Boom on Wall Street—

where the Dow hit 70,000 earlier this week.

"What most Americans are interesting in is just having enough to eat in the ice box, and the folding money

to buy a few records for the Victrola," Biden said, "And if I'm elected I'll see that that is the case again."
