These franchises, with government-protected monopolies, practically charge the taxpayers for playing the National Anthem. (If they could, they would steal lice.) Of course, the worst of the paid-for-patriots - by far - are in the NFL - which is nearly becoming too evil to follow. The list of NFL teams banking hundreds of thousands of dollars per year - paid to wave the flag - is beyond sickening. (The Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots lead the pack.)
I am proud to say that the Yankees are not mentioned in the MLB section (though not all contracts have been revealed, so they might have merely skated.) The worst baseball team is the Atlanta Braves - (what proud patriots, the people of Atlanta!) followed by - you guessed it - the Boston Redsocks.
Here you go, Fenway Nation. Congratuations! Your precious team is run by money-grubbing scumbags. The Redsocks in recent years accepted $100,000 to pretend they care about U.S. veterans and soldiers. Here's your special page in the report.
Met fans, you'll be delighted to know that your lovable, heartwarming team charged the U.S. Air Force $51,000 to hold a swearing in ceremony. Hey, why give product away for free? It's only the government. It's free money. Take the cash and pose in front of Old Glory! Here's your page, Met fans.
I can't help but note that the Arizona Diamondbacks are also on this shitlist. That's the franchise who celebrated winning the 2001 World Series by mockingly playing "New York, New York" on its public address system, while the teams were still standing on the field. What great sports! But what's really neat about the D-Backs charging the Pentagon $40,000 to allow soldiers to throw out first pitches - is how they also funnel more money than any other team to the GOP.
Yup. It's a perfect kickback loop. Bernie Madoff would be envious. The Diamondbacks pay the politicians, who pay the Diamondbacks, and they all get to salute the flag.
Stand in awe of them, everybody. They are the real Americans, the super-patriots.
