Yankee pride
To the editor:
Tuesday night I had the opportunity to watch my niece, Taylor Kurtz, and the other members of the Westhill High School softball team share the spotlight on the field at Yankee Stadium during the national anthem.
After suffering several major disappointments, both on the field and off, it was such a pleasure to see this fine group of young women live this once-in-a-lifetime experience. As each Westhill player ran onto the field to join a Yankee player at their respective positions, I could only think how these girls will never forget this year's season and this amazing finish. Their faces beamed with excitement and their spirits soared with enthusiasm (as did their families').
I just want to say thank you to the general manager, Brian Cashman, and the Yankee organization for making these young ladies so happy and giving them their "silver lining." It was truly a night to remember!
