No, there's no Bobby Meachem revenge act after she dumps him, no Buhner trade moment when he leaves her in the motel to go drinking with Ken Phelps. But he was a dude long before Oscar Gamble ever thought of a 40-inch diameter haircut.

But it's a quintessential Boss moment when he, essentially, fires her because she won't dance the Mexican Hat Dance with him, and then "puts her back on the payroll" with his sombrero-laden apology the next day. Shades of personnel management to come!
