Funny thing about Lou was although his lifetime OBP was a merely average .333 and he hit only 102 homers in 18 seasons, you always felt like you had a much better chance of winning when he was on your side. Nothing against Torre, but I wish Lou could have been the guy we hired to manage in 1996 when we were finally ready to start winning again.
Buck Foston says,
He can kick that cap better then Team USA can kick a soccer ball.
The fact that when he managed the Yanks (1986-87), he began every response to a Scooter interview question with, "No question, Phil....," will be forever etched in my memory, and should be etched on his Hall of Fame plaque.
