Who is Dave Roberts?
I used to use Bob Roberts as an alias when I was a kid.
In 2004 ALCS, the Red Sox used Dave Roberts as a Pinch runner in Game 4 when the Yanks had a one run lead to steal bases and put pressure on the Yankee bullpen. (I can't remember if it was Tom Gordon or Mo) but the end result was that he stole a base and scored and tied up the game for the Sux, and the rest is history...
They probably named a freeway after him in beantown.
They've got their Dave Roberts moment and its aftermath, and it still hurts, but we'll always have Bucky Dent, Aaron Boone, and the Babe. Not to mention Danny Cater for Sparky Lyle.
