Super Poll: Which is the better management team?

Thursday, December 15, 2016

Congratulations to Yangervis Solarte

He wins the 2016 Tony Conigliaro Award, for overcoming adversity and showing great courage on the field and in life. (His wife and mother of three died of cancer in mid-season; he took time off to be with her at the end, and then returned to his San Diego teammates.)

Last season, in 109 games - (he missed six weeks with a hammy) - Solarte hit .286 with 15 HR and 71 RBIs.

As you may recall, we traded him straight up for Chase Headley.

WOW.....BINGO.....SOLARTE MADE $525,000 IN 2016, AND I WOULD RATHER HAVE HIM PLAY 3RD FOR US INSTEAD OF HEADLEY ......ANOTHER CASHMAN CLUNKER THAT COST THE ORGANIZATION TENS OF MILLIONS! (OVER $50 MILLION TO BE EXACT)!!....... SOMEONE TELL THAT ONE TO THE CASHMAN "HALL OF FAME" MEDIA POSSE..... HE IS A SHITTY JUDGE OF TALENT, HAS BEEN FOR YEARS.....DAMN HIM......AND YET THERE'S NO CULPABILITY FROM THE FRONT OFFICE ON MOVES LIKE THIS.....

The key thing is to LEARN from this stupidity. It's obvious that Chase will play to the best of his ability -- he's not a slacker! -- but . . . he sucks.

So: The team should trot out ANYONE ELSE on a daily basis -- to 3B. Even my maternal grandmother.

And: She's dead.

Thanks for posting this, Duque - - this proves Solarte has a huge amount of spirit, and my heart goes out to him for having to go through this - - something no person his age should ever have to face, in an ideal world (or Duque's parallel universe).
All-caps, I have thought the same thing for years about that deal: just another of Bry-Bry's crappy, thoughtless deals, on which he gets a pass from the suck-up local media. LB

Hey, calm down. We'll get Solarte back when he starts hitting .220 and 5 or 8 homers a year. AND we'll sign him for eight years.

See how it works?
