1. Patience.
2. A fifth starter, preferably from Japan.
3. A DH, preferably from Japan. (See No. 2)
4. An opening on the roster where Jacoby Ellsbury used to be. It might be accompanied by an $8 to $10 million payment, which might bring the addition of two certifiable prospects at the low-single A level.
5. A LH backup catcher who specializes in defense.
6. A long, lanky bullpen southpaw who terrifies LH hitters.
7. Come to think about it, a RH version of No. 6.
8. A process that by Aug. 1 inserts either or all of Miguel Andujar, Tyler Wade, Clint Franzier and Glyber Torres into the regular lineup.
9. A contract extension for John and Suzyn.
10. That's about it. Can't think of anything else. Maybe some of the bathrooms could be painted. A few new menu items at the Steakhouse. And, well... oh, here's one: A MANAGER!

I agree on all points. Here's the thing - that's all do-able. Except for maybe the Jacoby E. part. Not sure how to get rid of him without some compromising homemade porn photos, and even that may not be enough. But, even if we fail on that one point, it's not an unreasonable list.
Number 1, got you covered. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErvgV4P6Fzc
Otani might back out of coming over. If he waits two more years he'll make 20 times what he'll make if he comes over this year.
Number 9 is obviously most important. I feel like we do this dance every other year and every time I sweat bullets that Sweeny Murti or some ESPN hack is going to usurp the Master.
Number 10, the only way I'd be comfortable with number 9 not happening is if the Master assumes the role as manager with Suzyn taking Randy Levine's role. Imagine the Master managing the bullpen, he'd put Betances in, Betances would throw 2 awful pitches and then he'd yank him. That is if they don't dump him this off-season. Am I too hopeful for thinking that teams still want that headcase? Am I crazy for thinking a team would take him and Ellsbury?
testing...
Jacoby has been such a disappointment relative to his salary and former playing days. But I still like him and wish him well. He seems to be a class act. He doesn't go whining to the reporters about his playing time, he never seems to be dogging it, and he never stops trying. I think if he was making $5 million a year, his presence wouldn't bother us so much, but it is what it is. Too bad.
Dellin is becoming my favorite headcase of the past decade. His value is just a fraction of what it was when we should have traded him a couple years ago. He'll end up winning a ring somewhere like Ty Clippard, who is not a headcase. See ya.
I agree with Leinstery on #10. The Master could wear a live mic during games, and when he's walking out to the mound he could say "This pitching change is brought to you by Little Debbie's Hebrew Home, which can save you 15% on the closing costs of Indian Point Nuclear Power Center, driven by Jeep."
Dammit.
By an unofficial poll I took, I think we already ran out of #1.
AGREEING WITH EVERYTHING I SEE HERE.....
.....BUT THERE IS ONE THING THAT IS TANTAMOUNT.
IT IS ANOTHER STEADY, LEFT HANDED HITTER IN OUR EVERYDAY LINEUP.
BIRD, DIDI AND GARDY ARE GOOD, BUT I DON'T COUNT HICKS OR HEADLEY AS TRUE SOLID LEFT HANDED HITTING "DIFFERENCE MAKERS".
OTANI COULD BE OUR ANSWER, IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE.
IF THIS GUY IS A SOLID HITTER, AND A SERVICEABLE PITCHER, WE CAN HIT THE JACKPOT.
HAL NEED TO GO "BALLS OUT" (GEORGE STYLE), ON THIS GUY.
