Bernie, Phil Hughes, to take part in Yankee Stadium closing homestand

YANKS STILL NOT SURE IF IAN KENNEDY WILL MAKE APPEARANCE

NEW YORK _ The Yankees have announced that Phil Hughes has accepted an invitation to be among the dignitaries, celebrities and former players to celebrate the final homestand in the history of Yankee Stadium.

Hughes Friday was said to be en route to New York City from his secure compound in Scranton, Pa., He could appear publicly in a game as early as Wednesday.

His arrival comes on the heels of word that Bernie Williams will also appear at the historic stadium, which in the future will serve the Bronx as a desperately needed vacant lot.

Fans expressed jubiliation Friday over the Hughes news. Despite the lack of a game, people filled the stadium to cheer the announcement.

"This needed to happen," said an elderly man in a porkpie hat, who identified himself as only as Alphonso. "Life is too short. I just want to see him one more time, to hold him in my arms, to breathe him."

Hughes will be seeking his first win of the 2008 season.

Ian Kennedy needs to re-do his life before considering a visit to any stadium;

1. He should return to USC and play chess instead of baseball.

2. He should re-marry ( Sarah Palen would be a good choice.....Ian Palen Kennedy is a winning ticket ).

3. He should becme a migrant fruit picker in South Mexico.

Then, he'd be welcome at the Bronx Ballyard.

I can't wait for next year (I have CC and Sheets thoughts in my future!)...But in all seriousness my wife and I are going next Sunday and sadly its likely the last game ever at Yankee Stadium. Kinda funny how this year has gone and if things end the way they appear we may finish 4th! Yuck! It will be great though to kick the snot out of Baltimore for the final game! We got tickets in the upper tier for less than $200 which wasnt too bad (if anyone else is interested?) http://www.esellout.com/ResultsGeneralAtVenue.aspx?kwds=New+York+Yankees&venid=68
At least Hughes got the call up after the AAA playoffs, it would be a nice way to salvage his season with a couple good appearances heading into the offseason either as a part of Yankees future lure OR in a potential trade! LET'S GO YANKEES!
