Letter to the Editor: A Courageous Stance by a Philadelphian

The Philadelphia Daily News
October 29, 2009

Dear Editor,

I'm not a sports person, but I'm rooting for the Phils to beat those damn Yankees.

New York City is overpriced and overrated and what a feeling it would be to knock those arrogant jerks off their self-important pedestals.

A bunch of loud, ignorant, psuedo-sophisticated, ahem, people.

Go, Phils!

While justifiably praising Ms. Di Giacomo's courage, you neglect her ferocious originality of thought.

I wonder if the good people of Philadelphia realize that winning back-to-back titles would ruin their entire self-image. Winning one already dealt a serious blow to their ability to whine endlessly about being perpetual losers.

Then again, two world series titles in four years plus the doings of the Pats and Celtics during this decade STILL hasn't gotten the Boston fans to give up the "underdog" crap, so I guess it's a wash.
