In a week when crafty Syracuse University self-immolated over an NCAA violation, the winter gods gave the 'Cuse a ray of hope in the coveted Golden Snowball pennant race - which will surely replace March Madness in the local zeitgeist.
Last week, Buffalo had raised its lead to nearly 14 inches, and the "City of Wings" looked to plow onward to the gold. But Sunday's storm brought Syracuse back to the yardsticks, proving there's still a lot of snow ball left to play... unless you live in Albany.
I don't know why Albany bothers to show up. They don't have winter there. They should play in a Pennsylvania league.
