According to two sources, the Giants and their longtime coach have had discussions about an extension, and a potential deal would keep Coughlin, who is in the final year of his contract, from answering daily questions about his future. Coughlin hinted that a deal could get done during his press conference at the NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium.
