Scranton to host Reuben Tejada?

I understand why the Yankees sign infield depth, and certainly, light-hitting ex-Met Reuben Tejada fills that bucket defensively. But the other day, I was pleasuring myself by thinking this could be the first year in my lifetime when the Yankees' Triple A team is filled with prospects, rather then parachutes...

And now Scranton's starting shortstop will probably be Reuben Tejada.

Don't get me wrong. It's not a bad signing. It's smart. It's paying attention to details. It's insurance, in case Didi discovers a tumor or something.

Silly me. I was just thinking that maybe Gleyber Torres or Jorge Mateo... or especially Tyler Webb (22 years old, hit .259 last year at Trenton) could play SS. Now... we're back to an old guy.

I guess the Salt Lake Bees weren't letting go of Brendon Ryan.

Duque, FGS, you can stop munching the magic mushrooms now - - a "smart" signing. NOOOOOO!! It's a signign that SMARTS - - just like fully half or more of Cash-Puss's signings he's so bloody proud of. Tejada will never see the Mendoza line again - - even Brendan Ryan & Brian Roberts might (in their local seniors' leagues). LB

Tejada is 27 years old and a lifetime .252 avg hitter. Can play 2nd, SS and 3rd. Good move if he sticks as a utility infielder .

Pronkie the Donkie!?! Oh, yeah, that guy from Cleveland who stopped hitting two years before we got him. At least he had a "prime." Tejada ... not so much, unless he manages to sucker punch Chase Utley some day for breaking his leg.

Mr. Ghost, look at his BA for the past two or three years and I think you get a better feel for where he is at this point. Another .200 hitter.
