The obligatory Giants "big game tonight" thread

Why, you ask, are we bothering to waste precious Yankee speculation space on the Jersey Giants? Isn't there some new angle on Rob Refsnyder that we should ponder? What about the rumors that Nick Rumbelow's dog has ringworm? Why would we ever consider the most frustrating sports team in NYC - and yes, I am including the Knicks, who long ago lost the ability to frustrate anybody.

Tonight, as you know, the Gints play the Dallas Cowboys, the NFL version of the Yankees, who are run by a man I despise and sort of appreciate: Jerry Jones. He may represent the last pro owner in America who would rather win a game than make money. (Some owners do this temporarily, but their long term loyalty always returns to the partners.) All you need to know about Jerry Jones is that on the night he opened his billion dollar football stadium - Jerry World, it's still called - he had scantily clad ladies dancing in elevated cages, like on Shindig.

As for tonight, I have absolutely no doubt the Giants will lose because a) I've watched their games this year, and their 8-4 record is as bogus as those news stories about the pizza parlor where Hillary grooms her sex slaves. b) We beat them on opening day, and Dallas has been smarting ever since, and c) they're the Giants. This is what they do. Even in the rare Haley's Comet-like occurrences where they suddenly march to the Super Bowl, they still fill their season with pain and humiliation.

Big game tonight. I may still watch the half-season finale to The Walking Dead. I hear Rick is getting pissed.

I'm watching the big ice bowl on the frozen tundra - - Go, Pack!!
One other thing we do need to know about Jerry: Chris Christie loves him some Jerry Jones!! (There are pix to prove it, if you have a strong stomach). LB

Christie and Jones is a love photo I can live without seeing. But thanks, Anon l.c.

As for the Jints, hey, they're 8-4, and as Trump can tell you, it doesn't matter if you deserved to win or even lost by every measure except the one that counts. 8-4 is still better than any other second place team in the NFC (at the moment), and actually would put the Boys in Blue in first or tied for first in most divisions.

Yes, I'm still expecting a sudden disappearance of the offense (see last week) or, more historically correct, the defense, who will allow Dallas to march down the field 90-plus yards with less than two minutes to go in the fourth to win the game by less than three points.

The sad thing is, I'm still hoping that a different team comes out and buries the Texan bisterds. Regardless, I'll watch "Shameless", since "Westworld" is done until 2018. At least if the Giants were on Monday Night Football, I could watch "To Tell the Truth" and "What's My Line?" instead on Buzzr.

By the way, is something wrong with Rumbelow's dog?

If I were just now starting this blog, I would title it "Nick Rumbelow's Dog."

JERRY'S BOYS ON THE MONEYLINE...... $300 TO WIN / RISKING $600 (REVENGE FACTOR GAME).
LETS WIN SOME MONEY SO WE CAN AFFORD TO PAY THE FU@KING $35 DOLLAR PARKING AT THE YANKEE GAME NEXT SEASON!!

Duque is right on this one. I know the Giants like he knows the Yankees.

The Giants should have lost game 1 against Dallas. A Dallas running back took the wrong option ( he should and could have run out of bounds )and the clock ran out. Otherwise, Dallas kicks an easy field goal and wins. Just as an aside:
1. Dallas has the best offensive line in football.
2. And the best tight end
3. One of the three best wide receivers.
4. The best running back ( rookie )
5. The best QB ( rookie )
6. The best place-kicker
7. An improving defense with several all pro players

The Giants have a one dimensional offense with a terrible offensive line, and the 31st best running game ( 32 is the worst ) in the league. They have one receiver of note and a tight end who can't block. His best play is to catch a 3 yard outlet pass and, if lucky, bull forward for another 3. Not an athlete. The Giants have a first year coach who seems like Mr. MacGoo. and to cap it off, just lost their best defensive player for the year.

Cowboys will beat the spread by 20 points. Bet on it.

Well, Fonz, I guess Chris Christie will be happy, anyhow - - he will probably be at the game....If the Cowbums would play every day, maybe that would keep him out of Joisey. Hmmmm. LB

We are a pathetic bunch. Here's a thought, why not make this a Rangers blog for the next few months, or at least until they disappoint

I wonder if Rumbelow actually has a dog.

The majority of NHL.com analysts pick the Rangers...as a wild card team.

How Selig of them.

awful game. the Junts trail by 7 at the half, but they look highly unlikely to actually, you know, score.

well, it's situations like this where my natural pessimism allows me to make the pleasurable admission that I was wrong: the Giants pulled it out. Great D and OBJ for one play.

I now know , and formally confess, that I know nothing at all, about anything.

Giants beat Dallas???

Defense looked awesome.

Offense continues to suck. Does anyone coach our O-Line?

See...I know nothing.
