Did the Yankees this weekend throw John and Suzyn overboard?

From here, it's hard to see 2017. Basically, it's all fog, beer suds and Calgon Bath Oil Beads. Next winter, the Yankees could face a massive, CC-Tex-AJ overhaul - (except there are no equivalents) - or, more likely, we'll jog in place and play the rookies. Maybe Aaron Judge will explode as an instant star, along with Gary Sanchez, Tyler Austin and Ben Gamel. But more likely, the moves made this weekend put the team in play for 2018, at the nearest.

Thus, a tough question today looms on the minds of every Yankee fan:

When the Yankees finally win their next World Series, will John and Suzyn be there to call it?

Will John ever need a home run call for Clint Frazier? Will Suzyn ever interview Gleyber Torres in her Clubhouse Report? Will The Master ever call another playoff game?

Speculation is that the pair - after signing a rare, two-year deal last spring - will retire after next year. It's just speculation, of course. And last night, both expounded joyously about team's new direction, though Suzyn made it clear that she will miss her surrogate sons. (She gulped with emotion when telling how Ivan Nova said, "Now I will be back pitching to my little friend," referring to Frankie Cervelli in Pittsburgh.) At times, John sounded tired and brittle. He's never gone through an August like the one that's ahead.

Don't get me wrong: I'm down with the trades. They had to happen. But today, as we look to a better future, we must wonder: Did the Yankees pull the plug on The Master?

If A-Rod does not get playing time, steady everyday playing time, Susan should be put on suicide watch!

I was hoping they would be part of the selloff.

I hope John sticks around long enough for us to hear him say, "Around goes Frazier, around goes Frazier."

I'm biased but I wish we could just listen to The Scooter and Bill White. There has to be enough tape and some algorithm to make it work. Suz can be the third wheel, fine. But The Master needs to move to Florida and call radio at Steinbrenner Legends Field.

Clint Frazier went 0-4 with 3 Ks in Scranton.

Looks like Frazier is worth 25 million a year, if A-Rod is the yardstick.

I LOVE JOHN AND SUZYN ....(BUT OF COURSE, YOU HAVE TO HAVE THICK SKIN LISTENING-THAT DEVELOPS OVER TIME)...... BUT MY FAVORITES WERE SCOOTER AND BILL WHITE....PURE GOLD........ RIZZUTO WAS FUNNY, BUT STILL SMARTER THAN GIVEN CREDIT FOR ON THE BALLFIELD, AND A HILARIOUS UNFORGIVING "HOMER"....AND BILL WHITE WAS GREAT KEEPING SCOOTER SOMEWHAT IN LINE, WITH TONGUE IN CHEEK.....THEY WERE GREAT.

I'm preying John and Suzyn will be around for at least a few more years, they've earned it, and, I adore their broadcasting!

I notice the nostalgia for Scooter and Bill White. Let's be honest--Rizzuto was an enagaging clown but never a first-rate broadcaster. On radio he was a disaster--he was sloppy, easily distracted, rambling, indulging random bouts of buffoonery to dispel what seemed like boredom with the game itself. The amount of game detail conveyed was a small fraction of what you hear on Sterling's eccentric monologues, in which game data are appended as an offhanded addendum to whatever crackpot tangent he happens to wander into. Not exactly dumb and dumber, but worse and worser.

It seems that most readers of this blog are not old enough to have experienced Mel Allen at his best. He was fast, smart, observant, engaging--and evoked the drama of the game with uncanny flair and an almost indecently sonorous voice. For those who know of him only by distant reputation, I append the following clip from his work on the 1961 World Series, where many of these strengths are in evidence. Notice that he, in effect, calls Maris's shot in advance:

Our algorithm could make The Scooter better. If John stays, he needs a spittoon. His mouth sounds wetter than a pedophile chatting up Pokemon Go players. Our algorithm could bring Mel Allen back too.

Give me John's hysterics any day,,,,

I DO LOVE JOHN....BUT I THINK HIS MAIN PROBLEM, THESE DAYS, IS HIS EYES..... SOME OF THE CALLS ARE INCREDULOUSLY OFF, AND IF MATCHED UP WITH A TV FEED, YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT HE IS CALLING...LOL.... THIS IS THE "THICK SKIN" PART I WAS REFERRING TO IN MY LAST POST....

My love for John and Suzyn stems from the fact that I've grown up with them calling the shots, nostalgia is funny that way. All the quirks, the IIHIIFIIC moments and Broadway references ( I hate BWay musicals) is part of the package. I've never watched the games on television, only listened on the radio, and it's been a lovely, funny, enthusiastic, and yes, flawed human experience,,,

I HAVE A QUESTION GUYS.....DOES ANYONE ON THIS SITE KNOW IF JOHN STERLING KNOWS ABOUT THIS SITE?.... DID HE EVER RESPOND TO IT IN ANYWAY?....I'M BEING SERIOUS.

The Sterl allows me to enjoy two games at once once. He game I'm watching and the game he's calling.

ALL CAPS,
That's a good question? I can't imagine he wouldn't know about it, since IIHIIFIIC shows up when doing a search for him, but as far as I know, he's never ever appeared on here 'officially'.
