Yankeetorial: There has to be something more under the tree that explains what we've done

It's dangerous, reporting partial scores. And thus far, that's all we have for this winter: A partial score.

And this is it: At then end of five innings, the Redsocks 8, the Yankees 0.

Along with dramatic improvements through free agency, Boston is now poised to trade for Adrian Gonzalez, a frightening addition -- think: Mark Teixteira -- that would make it the baseball's best lineup, with a starting rotation superior to ours, as well.

Meanwhile, we've -- yeesh -- what have we done?

We replaced two Yankee icons -- and our best position prospect -- with a fine everyday CF (who has a lefty problem) and a DH who hit .275 with 8 HRs. If Curtis Granderson and Nick Johnson have good years, we'll forget Hideki and Johnny. But if either tanks -- and players still do in NYC (See: Mets) -- we are seriously screwed.

Nope. More gifts please. There has to be a pitcher here, somewhere. And an OF with more creds than Jamie Hoffmann, who despite the self-congratulatory Yankee hype machine, the Dodgers still didn't bother to protect.

Three weeks ago, everybody projected the Yankees to chase pitching this off-season. Well, we have lost Ian Kennedy and Phil Coke en route to losing Johnny.

We cannot expect Andy, Derek and Mariano to be great forever.

We cannot expect Joba and Phil to each throw 150-200 innings.

We cannot expect Sergio Mitre and Chad Gaudin to be starters.

OK, we've opened the packages and found the horseshit.
That means there's a pony, here, right? There must be a pony.

The new stadium has done the exact opposite of what I predicted... it has made us weak... we could sign Johnny or Holliday and haev a left fielder. But the padded seats did nothing for the cause. Now we are paying debt and saying goodbye to our heroes. Sad. Horeshit is another good word.
