Official IT IS HIGH "We love you, juju gods" Sunday night game thread

Why do we bother? Jon Lester is pitching. He always kills us. The only question is whether he'll throw a perfect game, a mere no-hitter or maybe have an off-night and pitch just a shutout. Maybe we should change this to an NCIS: Los Angeles thread? Any bets that the cops will lose?

NO SANCHEZ TONIGHT! (ONLY 2 HITS LAST NIGHT).... DIDN'T SEE THAT ONE COMING! ...JOE G. KEEPS US GUESSING!.......AND PISSED OFF.

CAN'T POSSIBLY WIN TONIGHT.

We have some time to kill... why doesn't the new Yankees stadium say "No Pepper Games" like the old one did, and is lax enforcement of pepper a cause of this dreadful Yankees spring?

Anonymous said...

We can't win this. You hear me, Juju Gods? There's no way we can win this. AP

The Yankees are going to have to play one heck of a game to grab a page in the papers tomorrow. All of this Harvey drama is guaranteed to snag both back pages and maybe even the front pages as well.

I think Joe is worried about Sanchez being back a bit early from his injury and, he doesn't want Austin to go stale. He was playing really well.

Our worry tonight is Luis: it looks freezing in Chicago ( note the coats on the fans ) and he may not be able to grip the ball. Beyond that, Holliday at first base? A recipe for disaster.

Maybe we get an 8-0 lead and bring back Carter. I just don't see this.

And I was blown away to hear that Tyler Austin is still three weeks away, at least.

Alphonso said...

What is the Harvey drama? I saw he was suspended for three days ( big deal...pitchers get that much time, or
more, between starts ).

Did he beat up his girlfriend?

el duque said...

He had a headache.

Mustang said...

A "golf headache." [Hic]

el duque said...

There goes your no hitter

Mustang said...

Sevvy gave that ball a ride

HARVEY IS A COMPLETE ASSHOLE....... ADRIANA LIMA DOESN'T REALIZE SHE IS GOING OUT WITH A CAR WASH ATTENDANT TO BE........ SHE WILL DUMP HIM SOON. (MAYBE SHE DID ALREADY, THAT'S WHY HE MISSED PRACTICE).....

Anonymous said...

SEVY DID GIVE IT A RIDE...... BUT IF I HAD MY DRUTHERS, PITCHERS WOULD NEVER EVER STEP UP TO THE PLATE AGAIN.

Mustang said...

I'm with you on that. We have child labor laws, yet we make pitchers bat.

el duque said...

This game is on Ellsbury.

Mustang said...

The Master said our name.

13bit said...

TINY!

Mustang said...

On Judge's tripe. He said, "It is high, it is far, it is... caught."

Mustang said...

Triple, not tripe. I'll be writing about Judge's tripe in a separate post.

It's pretty clear the people who produce ESPN baseball don't like baseball. Maddons RV tour, the split screens, it's all shit. Broadcast the fucking game.

13bit said...

I cannot handle this. El Chapo better get his balls unknotted fast.

13bit said...

Pass the mayo.

Leinstery said...

What a fucking asshole

el duque said...

Shit.

13bit said...

I hope there's no pineapple on the dessert menu tonight.

13bit said...

I am assuming the position

MUSTANG...I WAS IN THE CAR AND SAID THE SAME THING TO MYSELF....THE MASTER PLUGGED THIS WEBSITE, (AGAIN)..... "IT IS HIGH IT IS FAR IT IS ...CAUGHT!"....."AND IT'S OFF HIS GLOVE"....... MY FRIEND WATCHING SAID THE GUYS GLOVE DIDN'T EVEN TOUCH THE BALL...LOL.... THE MASTER NEEDS LASER SURGERY.

I'M TELLING YOU..... I THINK THE MOST ENRAGING THING ABOUT GIRARDI IS THE RESTING OF OUR HOT, AND BEST PLAYERS..... I KNOW SANCHEZ CAME BACK FROM INJURY A COUPLE DAYS AGO, BUT I CAN'T HELP BUT FEEL WE WOULD HAVE WON THIS GAME LONG AGO, IF GARY SANCHEZ WAS IN OUR LINEUP.....AND IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH CHAPMAN BLOWING THE GAME..... THE REAL "KICKER' FOR ME IS SANCHEZ WINDS UP COMING INTO THE GAME AND CATCH IN EXTRA INNINGS!....SO THE IDEA OF "RESTING" IS TOTALLY OUT THE WINDOW....THERE IS NO REST WHEN YOU PLAY ANYWAY....AM I RIGHT?

Great morning. Breakfast with the Yankees.
Just hope John and Suzyn don't catch a cold.

Top of the 15th - 2 out. Great game.

DutchFan said...

"We may be witnessing the making of Holder".
"Just like Andy Petitte; remember the game in Boston when he was a kid? They sent him down to stretch him out".

DutchFan said...

Shreve pitching bottom 16th.
Torreyes last position player Joe had left and he is in too.

Mike said...

44 Ks in game. MLB record.

Today's quiz: When this game began, Yankees OF Aaron Judge was:

A. Leading the league in HRs;
B. Batting .320;
C. 11 years old

BernBabyBern said...

And I believe Nick Swisher is up in the bullpen for the Yanks.

Anonymous said...

I'M STILL WATCHING THIS FUCKING GAME...
HICKSIE WITH A BUNT SINGLE AND AN ERROR!
LETS GO!!!!

DutchFan said...

Top 18th..... bunting to victory????

BernBabyBern said...

I believe we have a new Yankee nickname: Aaron "Fuck Yeah!" Hicks.

Anonymous said...

WE GOT THE LEAD!!!!
O GOD, IT'S BAEZ, SHWARBER, AND BRYANT NEXT INNING...SHIT.

Mike said...

It wouldn't hurt to add on a run or two...ask any 1981 Rochester Red Wing what can happen if you don't.

Anonymous said...

HAHAHA... LOVE THE NICKNAME BERN....

BernBabyBern said...

The 1981 Rochester Red Wings were still playing when this game started ...

Mike said...

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DutchFan said...

What a great win!

BernBabyBern said...

And so the Yankees and Cubs honor Ernie Banks by playing 2 today.

DutchFan said...

Except Chapman the bullpen was phenomenal.
Fun morning - time to get to work.

JJ in MA said...

Fell asleep in the 8th. Woke up in the 17th. The Master's warble never sounded so relieved.

Ken of Brooklyn said...

WOW! I'm vacationing in Rome and can't believe I actually was able to wake up to catch this WIN, this brutal> fantastic WIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!

BernBabyBern said...

And the hero of the game was Starlin Castro ... who was 0-for-8.

BernBabyBern said...

JJ ... I was wondering what kind of winwarble the Master would have after that. He's getting up there in age, but he can still bring it in clutch spots.

DutchFan said...

@Ken of Brooklyn:
Europe can be great fun when it comes to late games!

Tom said...

Chasen Shreve!!!

Ken of Brooklyn said...

@DutchFan,
I'll say, especially with a game like this!
I'm thinking of starting a Kickstarter campaign to keep me in Roma for the rest of the season, me being out of the country seems to be extremely favorable to the JuJu gods, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

el duque said...

Dutchfan,

I'm in for $50. Just keep doing what you're doing.

JJ in MA said...

@BernBabyBern: It had more energy than I figured it would at that point, but you can always tell when he's really done with the game when he lets the silence hang while he waits for Suzyn to "get her man."

13bit said...

OK, can I stand down from the position now?

Tom said...

Stand down, soldier! No pineapple for you.

DutchFan said...

@el duque:
No need for money. Just trying to make up for Didi.

HOLDER AND SHREVE WERE MAGNIFICENT!

SOMETHING SPECIAL GOING ON HERE GUYS!...I DON'T GIVE A SHIT WHAT DATE IT IS!
NOBODY WE HAVE PLAYED SO FAR HAS BEEN FAR BETTER THAN US, NOBODY.
LETS TRUST OUR EYES!

Ken of Brooklyn said...

Something special IS going on here, I absolutely agree AllCaps Anon!

And I keep repeating my own personal mantra for JuJu Gods appeasement, something along the lines of 'This season has already given me more that I ever could have expected, so from here on out, whatever happens is juuuuUUUUust fine by me" (WINK WINK!)

Alphonso said...

I passed out a long time ago. Are they still playing? I need pizza.
