Sunday, Bloody Sunday

Wait, they gave it to the remake of "Creature from the Black Lagoon"?

Not "Lady Bird," or "The Post," or "I, Tonya," which is everything wrong and hilarious with modern America in a nutshell?

And after banishing every single bad man from Hollywood—and I agree, most of them had it coming—they give an Oscar to Kobe?

It's just amazing that Cashman and Randy Levine never made it out to that loony tunes town.

And along with the shellacking at the hands of the Undeviled Rays, Soccer stormed back with a vengeance, dominating the Times sports section with a big piece on the U.S. women's soccer team, and Chelsea.  Nada, zero, nothing on the Yanks.

That puts us at Soccer 31, Yankees 19 for the year, and means that Soccer has caught us in March, 4-4.

A completely wasted Sunday.

Well, no, HC66 - - it's not REALLY a re-make of "Creature....Lagoon" - - it's actually a better film than that musty old classic, which just happens to share some superficial plot-similarities.

It was actually a better night for AMPAS than their usual fiasco, imho...and we needed a distraction from that fiasco down in FL, yesterday, didn't we?? LB (No J)

I thought Three Billboards was an award-winner fer shure -- the 3 pictured on this site not long ago . . .

Haven't seen the Billboards, though they have already become a cultural trope.

As for the Fish Man, LB sans J...I know, I know: I should not knock it before I see it. I just get tired of Hollywood's endless adolescence. Superheroes, sic-fi reboots from 60 years ago, and, oh yeah, Star Wars, a franchise itself over 40 years old.

Lotta fresh ideas out there, huh?

I did love your analogy of the government's reaction to the creature to Coops, though. Again, this is why Red Thunder's concussion may prove to be a blessing in disguise. It keeps Coops from accepting some crapulous deal for him, and—combined with Ellsbury's o-bleak—means the likes of Cave, McKinney, and Tippecanoe Austin may all get a real look this spring.

It was as much "Splash" as "Creature from the Black Lagoon."

HOSS!

STANTON CAN'T EVER PLAY LEFT FIELD AGAIN....

WOW.

I think Stanton will last longer as DH, in any case.

And hey, if you noticed, Ma Boone was right there, to pick him up, dust him off, and tell the press all about the positive side. ("He had good first reads on the ball!")

Somewhere, Reggie is seething: "My manager mocked me for six months when I blew one flyball!"

How much ya wanna bet Stanton hits less than 40 dingers this year?

Just saying.
