Now show some real testicular fortitude and release Iron Mike!

Why is Bader in the lineup?

The Yankees have placed center fielder Harrison Bader on waivers, reports Erik Boland of Newsday (Twitter link). As is the case with the Angels’ series of waiver placements, New York’s hope is that another team will claim the remaining salary on a player who was headed to free agency in a couple months.

One of the worst trades in recent memory?

Where does it rate on worst trades that Cashman has made?

JM said...

It's way down there, Scot. Just pathetic.

And if we were going to put him on waivers why not trade him at the deadline?

We looked utter dung and not a playoff standard team then so there was no excuse in my opinion not to sell what few assets we had espcially someone who was going to leave as a free agent anyway.

I mean it would probably have only gotten a 19 year old lottery ticket type of player and with how we seem to draft probably someone not very good but it would have been better than nothing,

Except if someone claims him it will save money maybe that is what only matters to the front office and Hal nowadays :(

True, SYF.

Gleyber Day already.

Higgy!

Well, Bader is playing tonight.

You sure they didn't just mean that I waved at Bader? When I was shouting, "Get off my team, you perpetually injured bum!"

Just wondering.

HoraceClarke66 said...

But yes, IF they have waved Harrison...that's insane.

They should have traded him for something, period. This makes zero sense, and is so typical of Cashman's reign of error.

I don't know which non-home-run bat flips are my favorites. The ones that didn't even make the warning track? Or the ones where he's out between first and second.

It's soooooo hard to decide.

Celerino, we can all dream, can't we?

Can Holmes blow this one?

JM said...

Nope. We won.

The bat flips are amazing!

I counted 7 in all, including one in the playoffs. What a maroon!

Such a miserable turd of a person. I rejoice in the ignominy of his career's demise.

Detroit is an awful team…

If I lived near him I'd shoot out his porch light and take a dump on his private tennis court. And pool deck. And in the Jacuzzi.

Definitely in the Jacuzzi.

I hope Hal reads that Kiernan article.

Not that he would actually do anything about it

Really no choice but to release him. He was due to come off the 60 man on 9/15, but there was no room for him on the roster (60 day IL are temporarily off the 40 man) once he’s released and passed through waivers he becomes eligible to play for another team immediately. I guess they’re doing him a favor by releasing him now, in case another team wants him. We still gave to pay his salary for the re#t of the year plus a 6M buyout next year. What a great deal!…for him.

We have to add 2 players to the active roster on Friday. It’s actually mandatory, so Stein Laurel can’t cheap out. Probably one will be Wells, rumor has it the other will be Dominguez. But we will need a roster spot for McKinney, although they could certainly just release him too.

So, watched Torrents finish off the Mets today.

Ron Darlin was talking about how the Rangers have changed his motion, and it gives him his old speed back. Maybe; he was throwing up to 101 today, and fanned Alonso.

On the other hand, he gave up a long home run to Mark Ventos, and Alonso turned on another ball and hit a rocket—foul.

Torrents—who seemed remarkably dry, but was wearing his usual undershirt—is now all of 4 for 9 in saves this year. I don't think we gave up much.

The starter for Texas today was Andrew Heaney, all of 9-6, 4.34 this year, so meh on him, too.

ranger_lp said...

Rortvedt should be released too…

DickAllen said...

Yeah, Horace. Heaney has been remarkably good of late.

And the Rangers have another guy. I think his name is Montgomery.

How is it that many pitchers do well when the leave the Bronx?

Two Cashole mistakes hopefully gone within a day. To bad Cashole himself couldn't be placed on waivers. Then again if you want to actually win in the playoffs you wouldn't want him anyway.

Volpe is knocking on the "20-20" door for the season as a rookie. Twenty homers and 20 stolen bases. I expect, and hope, his average improves as he becomes a better hitter with experience and more knowledge of the pitchers. Has speed, plays shortstop and he's young.
