Two comments from Ron Darling. Comment the First.

Darling noted the other day—yes, that's how bad things were, I was driven to watching the Mets—that the Braves, romping away with the NL East, had scored 109 first-inning runs on the season, and given up just 28.

I don't know how many runs the Yanks have scored in the first inning this season, but I think the number is somewhere around —300.

Really, this speaks to how constantly unprepared this Yankees team is going into a game—a situation that reached new lows last night, of course, when our starter wasn't even our starter.

But it's a team-wide failure, and one that starts with Aaron Boone.

The first inning is when starters are often rocky. They haven't established their stuff yet, and don't know what works. Getting ahead in the first is a big advantage. If your pitchers are constantly pitching with the lead, they're going to be better.

What does it take to do well in the first? Maybe knowing what the other guy is going to throw, and thinking about how to hit it. There's no evidence the Yankees do any of that at all.

I'm not saying that Aaron Boone is the main trouble with this team—far from it. But he does not hold his players accountable for their mistakes, and he does not have them ready to go when the bell rings.

Boone is an idiot. He can't even hear that bell.

After Boone’s comments this week, I think he’s auditioning to be Biden’s next press secretary

We got Keynan Middleton from the White Sox…boy that moved the needle…

Let's hope they didn't trade off Volpe, Torres plus a boatload of prospects to get this middle of the road transaction done.

Yeah, he's no Spicey, that's for sure.

For Keynan Middleton, a 29-year-old middle reliever with 10 wins and 15 saves in 7 seasons, we gave up Juan Carela, a 21-year-old minor leaguer with a 3.67 ERA in Double-A this year, and a 2.96 ERA in Single-A, in 2022.

This was a deal for nothing—and Cashman STILL got screwed.

Participles and gerunds, your 2024 New York Yankees!

Another lousy trade, and for what?

Yeah, I don't get that trade. I would think the kid would be just as good as any 29 year old leftover. More strange goings on here....

Middleton has a 10 ERA in his last 6 innings. We got another one who is sinking like an anchor.

I have voiced this theory before, and I'll bring it up again now. I think Cashman brings in guys with names that he likes. Keynan Middleton ... sounds great, looks great on paper, doesn't it? That seems to be Cashman's sole criteria for assessing new players. I guess Juan Carela just didn't have the zing quality. Keynan Middleton ... Juan Carela ... put 'em side by side and you can see that the former has definitely got more ... presence, charisma, a certain ring to it.

I can’t believe they got Middleton, he should get Abreau’s innings.

Hoss, I have noticed that the Yankees don't seem to score much in the 1st inning.

I am going to hold to my promise to analyze the Yankee #2 hitter statistics from this year. Judge or no Judge, I will go through the entire sorry ass season's worth of games and figure out just how many times the #2 hitter came up in the last at bat (that he wouldn't have had if he batted #3) and how many times that last at bat actually mattered. Whilst doing said analysis, I will also tally how many runs they scored in the 1st inning. That last part should be easy. They haven't scored many in the 1st.

That sounds well worth while, Hammer, thanks!

And hey, Keynan Middleton IS a cool name. It sounds almost like...Keenan Wynn. Who was GREAT in a small role in Dr. Strangelove.

(I know, I know: there are no small roles. Only small general managers.)

Yes. Boone is a reeking turd in the Yankees' punchbowl. Which is filled with sewage instead of punch.

Boone's only (real?) crime is taking a lot of money from the front office to do as he's told, and put on a happy ☺ face. I believe that most of us would take the money, and smile, smile, smile 😃. I believe that most of us would vomit through clenched teeth during every press conference. Am I getting close to the reason for the animus that he draws from most of us?

I just can't believe that the lineups are his, or most of his in-game moves. The teams ' sloppy, lazy play is on him. Although Joe Girardi couldn't seem to get "sleepy" Sanchez to get it gear either. Maybe Hal brought in a Feelings Coach?

The worst thing, IMO is watching the same errors being committed, year after year, started at the top and trickling down. I think that I'm not alone in believing that a top to bottom purge has to happen, but that is no guarantee. Most of us have seen teams languishing in the mud for decades. With terrible records. SO, ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE...😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
