The Yankees most recent…
8-Game Losing Streak
August 19-26, 1995
9-Game Losing Streak
September 13-21, 1982
10-Game Losing Streak
May 26-June 5, 1913
We could set some franchise records in the next few days, folks.
For reference, in 1913 Woodrow Wilson was elected president, the 16th and 17th Amendments were ratified, and the Model T was first produced on an assembly line. A year later World War 1 would begin.
I heard Count Floyd is announcing the game on network 90.
Did the Beta-max player finally die? I have a top-loader wired-remote VHS machine in the basement if you need to borrow it.
How appropriate it would be to have the longest losing streak in a century set next Thursday.
That's scary stuff, Rufus!
Zach, just for the record, Wilson was elected in 1912, but yes, he took the oath of office in 1913.
At the time, the manager of the Yankees was the O.G. Peerless Leader, Frank Chance, late of the Cubs, who under his guidance had run up the greatest 5-year skein in baseball history.
That year, the City of New York had forced the Yankees to finally move out of Hilltop Park in Washington Heights—aka, "The Rockpile"—and move into the Polo Grounds as the Giants' tenants.
I’ll squeeze a scintilla of hope in before the maelstrom of hate and despair begins
A LH hitting C not named Austin Wells is tearing it up at Somerset:
Meet Ben Rice
.319/.443/.604 OPS 1.047, 13 HR, 8 SB.
By holding on to Mr .098, Ben Rortvedt, the team is holding back Wells, by holding back Wells, they are holding back Rice.
Everybody knows holding back Rice isn’t good for your system
Hey JM - be thankful that you’re not in Palms Springs.
Just saying
Down by one in the first. No chance, we're doomed.
Yeah, AA. They might get really creamed by the hurricane.
Stang - alternatively, you may also use my Fisher Price PXL 2000.
(very useful in the day)
JM - I may have to visit your Porto Rico Importing Company whilst I’m in the City.
What a great idea having Bauers (3 for his last 46) batting cleanup. And the fearsome IKF batting 5th…
Whoever shit this lineup out should be fired on the spot. Do not pass GO, do not collect $200, we’ll mail your personal effects, now
GTFO!
AA, Porto Rico Importing is three doors west of our building.
Before I go, allow me to become the proverbial broken record: the red Sox pitched around our “big” hitter, Judge, yielding a harmless walk. For the 878th time in the boon3 regime we allow the other team’s top hitter to put it in the seats instead of pitching around him. The lack of fundamentals both on the field and in the manager’s head is making me physically ill… I’m outta here, I can’t fucking take this anymore, enjoy your day everyone
JM - you are welcome to join me for a cup of Bedford Blend
Higgy homer!
AA, sounds like a good idea.
Nice tank swing by IKF…
999, you are very right. It's just part of the package with today's Yankees.
Back in the day, we might have pitched to their top hitters out of swaggering arrogance. Now, we do it out of swaggering stupidity.
Nice tank throw by Volpe…
Down 2-1. Insurmountble lead.
They could pinch hit RizzO - let him get hit by the pitch (head) and get Allen to pitch run and see where it takes us
You see all these teams in contention bringing up top prospects and all we’ll see on 9/1 is the return of Fraunchy and the rest of the misfit toys.
Gleyber Day!!!
Maybe IKF can bunt this time…
Another tank swing by IKF…
The sweeper pitch has more than one meaning…
Volpe!!
Wow, we just overcame a three run deficit. Didn't think it was possible.
Say what you will about Volpe, at least tries. And if he had good coaching he could be a poor man’s Trevor Story.
Judge strikes out looking.
Stanton pinch hitting..end of rally…
Brigadoon gives us a gift.
Travesty of justice…
Damn replay review.
As they said in Animal House. “Bullshit”
And as they said in Half Baked..."Man, this is some bullshit!"
Holmes looks like he carry the weight of the world on his shoulders
Now I can relax and enjoy the rest of my day.
We’re going to lose :)
This kid can play 3B, good thing they played at SS
Judge strikes out looking. Again.
Torres strikes out.
Can't any of these guys just make contact?
Boy, we get a new “rock bottom” pretty much every day, don’t we?
That was a good tank loss...
And of course, Rortvedt makes an out.
Another L.
At least he hit the ball.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOne
The suckfest continues.
298 mil payroll and your game comes down to Benny "Mendoza" Biceps ..Our 2023 Yankees
Ladies and gentlemen, your cleanup hitter with the game riding on his shoulders … Ben Rortvedt, hitting .098
That pretty much sums up the season perfectly right there
Hey Hal, if you’re still “confused” why fans are upset ……
Yanks now have 0.5% chance of getting a Wild Card berth according to FanGraphs. Gonna hit 0.0% by end of day maybe...
And maybe..just maybe...the FO may want to reconsider why Rortvedt and Allen are on the 40 Man Roster come September 1st? Shelve Judge, Stanton and Rizzo on the 60 day EL with physical or mental illness. Bring up some prospects FFS...
One good thing amidst all this mess: Little Tony is batting 320 this past week. The kid is having a nice end to his first season. Unlike the rest of this shit show.
Well that was a thrilling and painful bloody bowel movement.

#Yankees offense during their eight-game losing streak:
.188 BA (47-for-250)
20 runs in 72 innings
79 strikeouts
.135 with RISP (5-for-37)
41 left on base
Let's just say that one was Pineapple adjacent.
Here come the jokes...
The New York Yankees will play the Detroit Tigers in the 2024 Little League Classic on Aug. 18 at Bowman Field in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Detroit will be home team for the game, which was originally scheduled at Comerica Park, where the teams meet on Aug. 16 and 17.
DJ has been awful for the first time in his career. I believe he is ready for retirement. Gleyber is a fine player that would be a valued addition to a well built team. Bauers has been awful. IKF is and always was awful. Ditto Bader. McKinney awful. Higgy awful.
Rortveldt and Allen should be in the minor leagues being awful there before retiring from baseball activities and getting jobs at the beer warehouse. I shouldn't even know who those two are. I hate HAL and CashBrain for those two most of all.
Looks as though it will be Cole on Thursday.
Actually, I can make the case for IKF. He does field 3B well...he just needs to bunt on every at bat...
I wanna see Judge hit 30+ homers. Just Because.
Winnie - Gleyber's bad relay throw was the reason for Volpe's error today. Not a fan.
It's like when Julius Randle dribbles into guys and uses up pretty much the entire shot clock and then throws an off balance pass to a teammate who has to make a tough grab and shoot in 2 seconds. The teammate is charged with a miss but it's all on Randle.
Mr. bit and LBJ,
We are meeting at the Bronx Bunker the morning of the game, correct?
I know I will be there, but I did not see instructions on how to get there. I don't need them, but wondering if others might need them.
P.S. If not sending the instructions to me was intentional to avoid me, just let me know and I'll go elsewhere. The phoned in bomb threat will have nothing to do with me feeling slighted.
The Bronx Bunker? Can they make a sausage egg and cheese?
Winnie,
You've seen the place. Did you really want to order food there?
Ordering and eating are entirely two different things
AA,
I seriously doubt they have anything beyond a bag of chips anyway.
See you there!
I can’t wait to see what the expiration date is on those bags
They were all packaged before expiration dates existed.
exactly
