Rule 1. Never get excited about a Yankee prospect.
Rule 2. The better a Yankee prospect appears, the more certain it is we shall trade him before he ever puts on the uniform at Yankee stadium.
Rule 3. The Yankees will never have a group of great young players
again ( remember what happened when we brought up Mo, Jorge, Derek, Bernie and Andy) ?
Rule 4. Yankee prospects are dirt and will never be given a chance in pinstripes.
Rule 5. If someone says, " Banuelos is the next Whitey Ford," consider him already traded.
Rule 6. Only focus on mediocre, over-paid players. THAT IS OUR FUTURE.
Rule 7. Never, ever pay attention to any Yankee prospect unless they are naked in your
wife ( or girlfriend's ) bedroom.
Rule 8. If you hear, see or read anything about any player in the Yankee organization, but not on the major league roster, consider them gone and irrelevant.
Rule 9. Never watch, read, or listen to any show where it is likely that a Yankee prospect will be mentioned. Ever. Throw a large object at the source.

Keep in mind the reason they were all in the Yankee system to begin with, was the late 80's/early 90's.
Pitchers are such a crapshoot. They blow out their elbow, their shoulders, get blisters, get scared and lose their velocity. They go from world dominance to junk pile in one throw. hitters last 10-12 years, and the great ones go for 20+. You can't win without pitching, but the cast of characters changes every year. Very few sabathias and halladays out there. If we get two very good years out of Pineda, with some World Series kick ass, maybe this trade can be rationalized. Otherwise, perhaps we can pick Jesus up in free agency six years from now, after he's already put up his best numbers and the legend is established.
Yeah, we can sign Montero for a contract, when he is 30, that costs $50 million a year for 20 years.
