Thank God Brazilians love Yankees caps, in a full plethora of colors. They don't know anything about baseball, they don't know what the logo is, they don't give a shit about the team, the management, the players, or fans. They just love the hats, helping to keep Haliburton Steinbrenner kinky booting through piles of dough.
And that is where we are. The more ignorant the consumer, the more popular the interlocking NY.

And yes, JM, the Yankees hat is an international symbol. The Yankees generally rank as the second or third wealthiest sports franchise IN THE WORLD. And that's a world full of soccer, my friends.
If HAL was not such a nepo idiot, he would realize that the potential for this franchise is virtually unlimited, and take the steps to increase its appeal and value exponentially over what his father left him.
But he's not that. He's an odd, distracted-seeming man, who doesn't want to rock the boat with his fellow cartel owners, and can't bear to fire even loathsome incompetents. I guess it's good for such a man that he inherited the world, because he sure would be lost trying to make his own way.

We here know all this, but much of the unwashed fanbase, still drunk on the kool-aid of past glories, haven’t got the message. Fact is the Yankees are no longer the “Mecca” of professional baseball, and haven’t been for many years. No doubt in my mind this affects potential free agents, especially those from other countries. You think this wasn’t part of the thought process for Yamamoto? Think again.

And they still don't get it. Canvassing the other Yankees blogs, we're still deep in the five stages of loss: a lot of denial, unfocused anger, insistences that Yamamoto won't be that good, plucky eagerness to see what the Yankees do instead.

They don't get that there is no Plan B, that this franchise is deeply committed, as its actual (unspoken) mission statement now, to doing just enough to contend for a wild-card spot, and keep the money rolling.
