Joe Girardi wants to ban defensive over-shifts. What other rule changes would help the Yankees?

1. No teams allowed to field players under age 30.

2. Teams can no longer bunt or hit to the opposite field.

3. All scoring must come via home runs.

4. Teams not allowed to score after the fourth inning.

5. Pitchers must allow batters to hit the way they did in 2009.

What am I missing?

I SAID THE SAME THING TO MYSELF....."IS HE KIDDING?"......THEY HAVE HAD SHIFTS GOING WAY BACK IN BASEBALL......WANT TO STOP THE SHIFTS?.....SIMPLE....LEARN TO HIT TO THE OPPOSITE FIELD, AND BUNT......THERE IS A NOVEL IDEA!!!...WOW!

This Blockhead Joe comment is beyond belief. He would ban the shift, but he uses it more than most managers in MLB. Exactly how does that logic work? Did McCann and Tex put him up to this?

Reminds me of when the NBA banned zone defense. stupid.

OK, so, if McCann or Tex slaps one the other way one out of 10 times, his average goes up .100 points. Until they stop shifting because he's been slapping one the other way, including with men on base.

With the 3B playing close to SS, you don't have to be Rod Carew to pull this off. These guys must have muscle between their ears.

Who is advising or coaching them? "Keep swinging as hard as you can to try to hit it over the three guys on that side of the infield and the two outfielders as often as you can. It doesn't matter that you're BA is sinking like a rock. We need you for the longball because nobody gets on base."

Nobody gets on base because every single one of them hits into the shift.

Total ban on left handed pitchers.

Tom: what they say is "They're trying to take away what I do best. Fuck them. Nobody can stop me from pulling. Chicks dig the long ball!"

or something along those lines...

Long ball is sexy. Per Maddox, Glavin. But what did they know?
