Meet the new loss. Same as the old loss.

It's Groundhog Day. We play the same losing game, over and over.

We score first. Our starter looks unhittable. We miss a few scoring chances. Some mediocre hitter for the other side whacks a home run.

Then, slowly, exasperatingly, our lineup falls asleep, and everything unravels.

This is the Yankees of 2016. (Not much removed from 2015 and 2014 and 2013.)

We have perhaps the best bullpen in baseball... yet no lead is safe.

We have some of the highest-paid sluggers in the game... and a vacancy sign in the lineup.

"The Yankees are now five and nine... ouch," John Sterling said last night. "I know it's early, but nobody wants to begin the season that way."

Comcast must be laughing at this team. Rupert Murdoch - the owner of YES - must be throwing chairs through windows. (Or, more likely, Jerry Hall is.) At least Lonn Trost won't have to worry about poor people wanting to see games. Nobody wants to see these games.

I say, bring it on, juju gods. If this in the year of the collapse, let it happen. All the way. Don't hold back. Let's wash these stables clean. Let it fall into the ocean. Somewhere out there are young players who will revitalize the Yankees, and maybe a new owner who will have a plan. The Yankees are what happens when Nepotism weds Cronyism. They should move this franchise to North Korea.

"...somewhere out there are young players who will revitalize the Yankees " -( only the Yankees haven't signed them ).

"....and maybe a new owner .." ( our only real chance).

The sad reality; Hal & Hank may spew out words of might, words of change, of better days....of doing whatever it takes...but they don't have the smarts to carry out change. They can hire re-tread ball players....but that hasn't worked. And they learn nothing from this failed approach. Nothing.

So, we are, " done and dusted. " as they say. Keep rooting for a team of worn out " used to be's" in Yankee uniforms? Never have a group of young studs we follow from signing to world series? Each season, have it take two months for us to learn the names, associate them with uniform numbers, etc?

It isn't worth it.

SORRY GUYS........THIS FUCKING SUCKS.....IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS STARTING TO HAPPEN....CROWDS ARE DWINDLING, AND YANKEE FAN CALLERS TO WFAN, ARE SAYING,"WHY SHOULD I PAY BIG MONEY TO SEE CHASE HEADLEY?, I WON'T." ........I GUESS THIS IS GOOD FOR OUR CAUSE, ROOTING FOR OUR CROWDS TO DWINDLE....THIS MAY BE THE ONLY WAY TO GET THROUGH TO HANK AND HAL, (THE POCKETBOOK)...... BUT THE SCARY PART IS, IT ONLY "MAY" GET THROUGH TO THEM....EVEN SCARIER IS IF THEY DON'T EVEN CARE ABOUT THE CROWDS...BUT I FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE....WHO WANTS TO LOOK LIKE A COMPLETE ASSHOLE?.... I DON'T KNOW...... ALL I DO KNOW IS THAT THIS SUCKS.....BAD.

As someone from a AAA-Town, I am curious to know if the wealthy fans that buy seats in the fancy leather couch section are decreasing; or do they just not care enough to go on a regular basis anyway? I've wondered if the current model (retreads) is aimed at this crop of less interested but happy-to-pay fans.

The Yankees are setting a record here for losing the most must wins in a row. They are "mental" must wins as John calls them... And we must win! Or we'll just keep losing!!!
