Remember Dustin Ackley?

Wasn't he one of our " big " off-season acquisitions recently?

Was it this season or last season?

Was he going to play infield or outfield?

Was he a potential first baseman?

Could he hit or run?

What team did we get him from?

Who was included in the deal?

How long is his contract, and how rich?

What number was he given?

When did he disappear?

Here is the point:  How Quickly We Forget.

YEP......DUSTIN ACKLEY...... HOW ABOUT AARON HICKS?...... HAS ANYONE NOTICED, I DON'T THINK WE LOST A GAME SINCE HICKS GOT HURT? .......THINK ABOUT THAT...... AND HERE IS THE PROBLEM......WHEN HICKS GETS BACK OFF THE DL, ARE WE STUPID ENOUGH TO PUT HIS .215 AVERAGE BACK IN THE LINEUP?...... I'M AFRAID THE ANSWER IS YES..... CAN'T CASH, AND GIRARDI SEE THESE RESULTS WHEN YOU DON'T HAVE A .215 HITTER WITH NO POWER CONSTANTLY IN THE LINEUP?....... OUR NEW LINEUP CAN CARRY AN AARON JUDGE WHO IS HITTING BELOW .200, BUT TO ADD HICKS, WILL KILL US........ LETS FACE IT ALPHONSO, CASHMAN HAS ALREADY BEEN ANOINTED A "GENIUS" FOR WHAT IS GOING ON NOW......IT HAS BEEN A "PERFECT STORM" FOR HIS REPUTATION, WHEN IN REALITY, OUR SUCCESS COMES FROM EVERYTHING HE WAS TRYING TO PREVENT..... USING OUR OWN FARM SYSTEM.....A FARM SYSTEM HE HAS STREWN ASIDE, IGNORED, AND HAD NO CONFIDENCE IN............. WE KNOW THE TRUTH.

ACTUALLY, IT WAS OUR "JUJU" THAT GOT US HERE...... COINING THE PHRASE THAT WE NEEDED TO BE "SELLERS AND WINNERS" IS WHAT DID IT ....... CHECK THE ARCHIVES!....WE ARE THE "GENIUSES".........AND THAT BLACK SWAN WAS AMAZING......... KUDOS.

If we can sign Ackley in the off-season, he could compete with Aaron Hicks for fourth-outfielder!

But... old friend... keep in mind that the guys we traded for him - Ramon Flores (.205 in Milwaukee) and Jose Ramirez (3.80 ERA in Atlanta) - aren't great shakes either.

We might have been able to use Ramirez this year. That's about it.

Not every deal is going to work. Ackley was worth a gamble, just as Hicks was / is. Hicks hit well once he was given regular playing time. If nothing else that might help us get a prospect back if we trade him.
