Gulp !

Things are starting to "cook," as they say in the nursery rhymes.

Greg Bird is being held out of today's line-up due to a sore foot.

Dreary Drury had an Xray which everyone says is negative.  But deep bone bruises can take 4-6 weeks.

Red Thunder, as predicted....remember that, " as predicted "..... missed the entire spring training period and is only now beginning to resume, " baseball activities ."

Jacoby is hitting whiffle balls off a tee.

And where is the hidden injury?

Who isn't speaking up?

John S has hinted that his Giancarlo home run call will be a Italian phrase that rhymes... let the guessing begin.

It must be that damned ODUMODU! Oh, no! I've written the name again!

Awful news about Bird.

But...this may well help us save Austin, Andujar, and McKinney...

Always trying to stay positive. Until the last barrier crumbles, and I cry like a little girl.

I knew we should've kept Mike Ford1

Adam Lind is available. I expect Cashmoney to (re)sign him any minute now.

Is Mr. 'O' like Betelgeuse? Say his name 3 times and he appears? Or is that the black swan? Has anyone seen them in the same room at the same time?

I have been crying like a girl for the past week. Maybe we need to start a pop group? The first record could be "Cash Money Took My Baby Away (Sent him down to Scranton on a one-way train)."

But this is the sequel: "But Now My Baby Is Comin' Back!"

We just got Mike Ford back, by the way.

But if Bird goes down, he will stay down for a long time. I fear.

As the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, Greg Bird lands on the DL

Ach! All of Scotland is filled with joy! Brigadoon has reappeared! Mike Ford is back—and just in time! It's a wee miracle!

Look out world!

And happy birthday, LB sans J!

LB, no J.  Really, is 3/24 your birthday?

If so, you share a birthday with the following luminaries:
;   - Harry Houdini, 1874, Illusionist / Escape Artist
    - Norman Fell, 1924, Actor, Mr. Roper on "Three's Company"
    - Steve McQueen, 1930, Actor, driver of Ford Mustangs and Triumph Motorcycles
    - Nick Lowe, 1949, Underrated pop songwriter
    - Tommy Hilfiger, 1951, Fashion Designer
    - Steve Ballmer, 1956, former president of a crappy software company
    - Local Bargain Jerk, 1960, some dipshit who makes dopey posts on some blog
    - Lara Flynn Boyle, 1970, actress, liked her in Twin Peaks but loved her in Wayne's World
    - Peyton Manning, 1976, prominent, NFL QB, also sells insurance and pizza
    - Starlin Castro, 1990, Chicago Cubs and Marlins 2nd baseman

Happy Birthday my friend!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LB (NO J)...

...AND I THINK RUFUS IS RIGHT....

HERE COMES THE RETURN OF ADAM LIND, (WHICH MAY NOT BE TOO BAD A THING).

Happy birthday, Mr. President. If it is, indeed , you about whom reference is made above. I understand good scotch, but not the dialect.

Did you know that Churchill died on the same date ( different year ) as his father?

Did you know that Greg Bird is going to be a problem again?

If you were born in 1960 and was a Yankee fan from the get-go, as I was, then the Yankees basically sucked while you were a child. Yes, my most tender years were the end of a great dynasty, the last foam to get washed down the drain, but I - and others born in 1960 - had to wait a mighty long time for good baseball. We were the ones who grew up with Horace Clarke. Bobby Murcer was our idol. Thurmon, Gene Michaels, Roy White. Those were our teams - and a whole lot of fairly sucky baseball. It wasn't until we were in our mid to late teens that things got good again. Then, our 20s and even 30s were not so hot, when you really look at it. AND THAT IS WHY, every time some asshole Sox fan or somebody else would rail about the "dynasties" and the fake evil empire bullshit, we would all shrug. They just didn't understand. But we stuck through it. Anyway, I have to interrupt this awful monolog to go bring the dog outside.

Thanks for the fine birthday wishes, guys! They make an old coot feel a bit younger - - but I have to admit, 1946 wasn't such a bad year to be born, either - - I got to see the glory years of the Yanks' second great wave, as a kid - - and to see Maris & Mantle, and Moose & the gang play numerous times...and I got The Mick to actually turn around and say "Hi!" to me one day when I wuz populatin' the left-field bleachers of Comiskey.

LBJ, if yesterday was, indeed, your birthday, as well, belated but no less heartfelt, great wishes on your 58th!! You add much-appreciated class to our little chat-group, I assure you. Hope you, as did I, got to collect a fine free dinner on your special day.

and, Hoss - - I share affinity for Things Scottish - - and have a very nice collection of authentic tartans, and other Scottish mementos...somehow, I seemed to know whether a tartan-pattern was authentic (i.e., registered & recognized) even when I was very young Yankee-fan...Long live the Highlanders!!

...and this week, I will, barring tech-nicky difficulties, actually get to see the Big Club play a game or three - - since I do have an MLB Extra Innings sub, from out here in the hinterlands. For the next six months or so, my schedule will not be mine to dictate, but instead shall belong to the (not-so-) Evil Empire.

Onward, and Upward!! LB (No J)

13 BIT....

I WAS BORN IN '61...

YOU ARE RIGHT ON THE BUTTON....

I STOOD UP FOR HORACE CLARKE, AND ARGUED ON HIS BEHALF FOR YEARS....

LOVED BOBBY MURCER, AND ROY WHITE.

I REMEMBER THAT NETTLES AND CHAMBLISS TRADE, AND IT WAS A GREAT ONE. (GABE PAUL)

THEN WE FINALLY TURNED THE CORNER.

'76, '77, AND '78 WERE MY HAPPIEST MEMORIES AS A TEEN.

THEN THERE WAS THURMAN...I CRIED...I NEVER FORGOT HOW DEVASTATED I WAS. I FELT LIKE HE WAS MY FAMILY.

GOD, I LOVE THE YANKEES.
