Top Ten Reasons to Be Prideful, if you're a Yankee fan

1. Finished above .500 for 31st straight year! Unbelievable!

2. Not only that, but they finished TWO (2) games above .500.  A game to spare! It wasn't even close!

3. Next up, we're looking to beat that 39-year above-.500 streak by the ancient Yankees. Yes, Mr. Boone, there is a reason to live!

4. Ex-Yanks Nathan Eovaldi, Jordan Montgomery and El Chapo leading Texas to the ALCS. A little bit of NYC on that team!

5. Gerrit Cole.

6. Bryce Harper thrown out to end Phillies game two. What a bum! How smart we were, not signing him! Waytago, front office!

7. AL East Yankee-haters Tampa, Toronto and Baltimore all eliminated. Haha. Take a seat, losers. Not so mouthy now, is ya?

8. When he finally got called up to NYC, Estevan Florial only hit .230. See? The Yankee brass was right about him. Waytago, front office!

9. Franchise deftly managing to make big payroll the culprit in team demise. Thus, they can dump salaries, skip free agent auctions and bank more money. Waiting for the outside "audit." (Wink, wink.) Waytago, front office!

10. Humina humina humina... um, finished over .500... again! THE STREAK LIVES!  Take THAT, Kansas City!

They have cool Nascar patches on their uniforms! And, most players with numbers above 60 in mlb! More uniform sales!

Don't forget Donnie Baseball, Joe.

And Rufus, remember: people in New York want to see Starrs on the field.

Here are five more...

1) The season is over and we don't have to watch them anymore!

2) Stanton's problems can be fixed with mere tweaks!

3) "15 teams in the FCL. 5 of the 9 hitting all-stars were Yankees" !!!!!!!!!!! So we are looking REAL good for 2029!!!!!

4) Aaron Hicks returned to form.

5) Uh... Uh... I read somewhere that we kept our no losing seasons streak alive...

I don't want to hear another peep about Florial...he's not the second coming of Roberto Clemente...

Yes, but Florial did outhit the other bums on this team.

If it was up to me, Florial would keep CF warm until The Martian comes back in (hopefully) August 2024. Then Florial becomes the backup CF on the bench.

Hammer is that outhit the other bums a fast track to Cooperstown?

1. Yankees put an All Starr team on the field every game!! Who else can say that!

2. Seasons...winning record!...something else I'm sure

3. Championship caliber

4. (insert something here)

@ ranger_lp, No, haha, but I'd rather keep Florial around as the bench boy than most of these other bums. It wouldn't be so bad to have this guy as the backup CF, 4th or 5th outfielder.

With all of these guys, Eovaldi, Montgomery, etc., I am 100% certain that they never would've achieved these lofty heights had they stayed on the Yankees. There is definitely something wrong with the coaching on this team.

And maybe it starts with the manager. Bochy does a pretty damn good professional job, doesn't he? Nobody's going to call that guy a baboone. Why did Cashman hire a guy with zero experience as manager? The biggest reason cited seemed to be that Boone was a great interview. What a joke!

wrt Eovaldi, wasn't Rothschild the pitching coach then? Another HOF bum...

The Hammer of God said...

Yep, according to wiki, Larry Rothschild was the pitching coach here from 2011 through 2019. That's nine years. Eovaldi, Phil Hughes, and Sonny Gray were all under his tenure.

I think Rothschild was probably better than our current genius Blake. In the sense that Rothschild actually was a pitching coach, rather than a video review/statistics analyst. But Rothschild wasn't particularly good coach either. He should NOT have been here until through 2019. We had similar problems back then. Guys like Phil Hughes and Eovaldi could not finish off hitters. Getting ahead 0-2 in the count was like the kiss of death, when a pitcher should be in the driver's seat. And of course, Sonny Gray was the ultimate total meltdown.

I once heard David Cone say Rothschild, visiting the mound, would probably snarl at his pitcher "what the fuck are you doing?" for continually falling behind the hitters. That anecdote sticks in my mind for some reason. The old guy might have been a bit ornery in a funny sort of way, but he just couldn't get these young guys to reach their potential.
