This AM I woke up convinced that Yammy (How I love ya. How I love ya.) is going to sign with LA. Why? Because in today's Athletic I read one line that changes it all for me.
Yamamoto grew up as a Dodger fan.
To me, all things being equal, how do you not choose the team you fantasized about playing for your whole life?
The only thing we have going for us is how often I am wrong.

Prediction
There are still moves to be made.
This year's "I did not see that coming"... Brian Cashman's Christmas Stealth Spectacular (C)... will be a third baseman!
I don't know who, because I can't see it coming. But it's out there.

Brain Cashman's Hot Stove Limericks
Here are some limericks from Brian Cashman...
Though I failed to get Yamamoto
And traded half our our pitching, for Soto.
Fear not, I'm not done.
We're under the gun.
And Hal said that, this year I can blow dough.

Our rotation's just Cole so I gotta
fill it up, not with stars, but with foddah.
Monty and Snell want big pay.
Can't do Sonny Gray.
So I'll pivot and trade for Moncada.

Very touching, Doug! Makes me want to cry. Also loved the photo.
My prediction is he goes with the Mets, as Cohen, a much more determined SOB than our nepo babies, makes the dollars rain.
I did cry, Doug. I hope there's enough tissues in the cupboard . . .
My prediction is that he signs with the Yankees. If for no other reason than I grew up a Mets fan. Things change.
. . . and remember . . . schlong is just long with some "sch" in front of it
Ho-fucking-hum:
Free-agent outfielder Luis González has agreed to a minor-league deal with the Yankees with an invitation to major-league spring training, source tells @TheAthletic.
Ohtani’s deal structure tells the tale, Yamamoto is wearing Dodgers blue
My fear is that you're right Doug. And Acrilly.
But funny enough, this morning when I was writing a comment to an earlier post, I thought that I should say, "we need pitchers and a third baseman." But I didn't.
But we do.
Ken Rosenthal reports that Yamamoto will NOT attend the Rams game tonight...
The plot thickens...
That's a good sign. I think. Maybe, whatzits, whozits, where are we anyway? And WTF is Godot doing?
Luis Gonzalez? Didn't that juicer beat us in 2001 with that stupid pop fly? Or was that in another lifetime, one of toil and blood? I forget.
As for a third sacker, JM, well, that will have to be handled by the Oswaldii, I'm afraid. Which should be all right, if we get the pitching right. Every good team can afford one Dick Tracewski. And anyway, I don't think we'd have the remaining, minor-league chips to get anything more.
Unless, just maybe, we melted Stanton down like the Terminator, then reprogrammed him. Hmm...
Doug K. calls it!!!
And...a good call by Alphonso. The Soto trade makes little sense if the team is not going to go all out for pitching. Having signed Cole and Judge for that much makes no sense.
At least as reported on SNY, the Dodgers simply outbid the Yankees.
Even more disturbing, the Yankees reportedly "were concentrating on their hitting this offseason," and were pleasantly surprised when YY expressed an interest in them...but proved unwilling to try to outbid the Dodgers.
Amazing. They really think they don't need pitching.
Yeah, now they can go to Plan B. Or rather, Plan Z. Or something
RIP, NYY.
Boy are they going to be good.
Well now it will get interesting.
Ah fuck em...when the Dodgers get bounced from the 1st round AGAIN...I'll laugh
It will be interesting to see what the Yankeezzzzzzzzzzz will do now to enhance their 2024 roster.
Don't know if the Dodgers will be that good. All kinds of things can go wrong. But at least they're going for it. The Yankees have actually managed to weaken themselves in 2024—getting rid of six pitchers for two hitters—and they have probably weakened themselves in 2025 and beyond. (No way is Soto staying with this staff.)
Pearl Harbor Day was two weeks ago, but this is the Yankees' day of infamy.
Yammy wants to win. He knows we don't care - Hal, at least - and that's enough. The word is out.
