2. Speaking of lies... Showtime Shohei! There's something wondrously fulfilling about watching the Dodgers - what the Yankees used to be - frying in Vegas grease. Isn't it refreshing to be bystanders, while MLB "investigates" its biggest attraction? We can stand around like Bart Simpson, just saying, "I didn't do it." Sure, we may have colluded on the Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery front, but nobody blew $4.5 million betting on Knicks scores. We're also-rans, but we're innocent.
3. Also, three cheers for the Yank front office in surgically avoiding the flop known as Yoshi Yamamoto. Guy threw one inning, gave up five (5) earned runs - an ERA of, hmm, 45.00. The Tax Dodgers have him for 12 years and $325 million. He won't win many Cy Youngs with an ERA of 45.00, eh? Not that I'd ever gloat. We at IT IS HIGH might occasionally complain about Yankee cheapness and bad trades, but we dodged a bullet train by finishing third in the Yamamoto Derby. Some numbers nerd should get a raise.

And the pitching staff will give those six wins right back.
I expect a lot of late inning losses.
Booooone needs relief by the fourth and fifth inning as the alleged starters melt down early. The bullpen falls apart by July.
Tax Dodgers - NICE!
Yesterday’s Booth Banter with KayJo and O'Neill was about as exciting as it gets. Throw Marakovits into the mix and the entertainment will be so electric that no body is going to give a rat’s arse about what’s going on on the field.
YES has finally assembled a TV team that I cannot listen to. Though, to be fair, as soon as O'Neill settled in to his job, that's been true. Kay is just insufferable. His voice is like fingernails on a blackboard.
Just as well. If I listen to the radio broadcast, I get to hear that great commercial about the union that's rebuilt New York, delivered by a guy who sounds like a New York union should sound. And where would any of us be without a Peerless Boiler? Plus, we get Suzyn and The Master (for a limited number of games).
Radio is a wonderful medium. Which you wouldn't know, listening to most radio.

Looking at that projected Opening Day lineup, and the overall roster, this sure looks like an 80-something amalgam with far more downside than upside, the lack of bench depth and mediocre pitching the biggest holes in the ship’s bottom. The season should hinge on the ability of the younger players to surprise and make meaningful contributions.
Rodent did not do well.
Out pushing product today at this event run by the NYC, Casey Stengel chapter of SABR (of which I am a proud member), and got to hear Anthony McCarron—a thoroughly nice guy, by the way—talk about how he was truly stunned that the Yankees didn't do anything to get more pitching.
