The predicted short winning streak to .500 respectability has begun. Again.
On the day we declared independence from Britain ( Brexit America ), the team is only one game under .500. A win today and Hal, Brian and Joe can relax, again.
For up to 24 hours, they don't have to think about an impotent line-up, an aging population, overall mediocrity, incipient boredom, and long lines at the infirmary.
They can crow about their player development program, as the Yankees displayed a ( how old is
Chad Green ?) pitcher from the farm who actually got through a major league line-up twice (the Padres count as major league, despite their record ) without embarrassing numbers.
Time to send his ass back to Scranton.
And time for his name to be added to the trading pool. Time to think of packaging him, Sanchez, Judge and Miller, and trading for a Hall-Of-Fame (to be) player, to revive crowd interest at the new stadium....a player, perhaps, like Big Papi from our former rival.
Not to muddle the tranquility ownership is currently wading in, but , in Chicago, getting back to .500 won't be such cakewalk. I think we might be playing a team with a winning record.
But we should certainly score a run, maybe two.
And so it goes.....
