Someday, Aaron Judge is going to kill somebody, and then we'll all look back on this day and wonder what we could have done to prevent it.
Don't look at me. I got nothing. But this is a still shot of a bullet that Judge hit today off of Jumbo Diaz. It missed him, thankfully, because it was measured at 116.5 miles per hour - or 1.9 miles per minute. And if not for the centerfielder, this ball might have traveled a full 1.9 miles.
Shortly after Judge today whacked his third home run in three games, John Sterling began self-pleasuring himself by waxing over the possibilities. He suggested that Judge will be the first person to ever hit a fair ball out of the new Yankee Stadium. The Master assailed those pre-season critics who called Judge a homer/strikeout player, and he has already used three different homer hollers: "It's Judgement Day"... "Here comes the Judge.".. and "He's the Judge and jury."
It's going to be a long season, and we won't fully realize what we've got until Judge has passed through his first major league slump. But he sure looks good coming off the bus. And we better start thinking of contingencies when he kills somebody.
