Coney at the end: "My head hurts... I need a drink."

It was that bad.

Excruciating loss.

Yeah, thanks a bunch, Joey Blue-Binders!! Effing brilliant move, having a rookie pitch, then switch to first base, then, after a 35 minute layoff (from pitching), in a PRESSURE situation, back on the mound....in the process, we lose our DH, and our momentum....has the poor kid ever played first before?? Sure didn't look like it.

So - - why NOT leave Holliday in the game, just have the kid pitch two innings straight (their big bongers weren't up that inning, in any case - - and then bring El Chapo in the 11th (if needed - - which might NOT have been, if Holliday had still been in there instead of Birdie (half the Mendoza line, also thanks to Joey sitting him, just when he found his swing & rhythm last week!!)

I don't even want to THINK about that fiasco which unfolded on that play in the eleventh, where they scored two un-deserved runs....

God, am I chuffed - - if Joey was standing in front of me right now, he'd better watch his teeth, I can tell you that....

Why does he always have to get cutesy - - it almost never pays off.

I knew the game was over, as soon as Mitchell gave up that single to the light-hitting but SPEEDY Joey Rickard - - after that, we didn't have much of a chance - - he was rattled - - understandably - - unlike me: I was downright STEAMED. BARF. LB (No J)

I AGREE anonymous...... WTF WAS ALL THAT RIGAMERO ABOUT?
...... AND I AM STILL PISSED OFF ABOUT BIRD BEING BENCHED THE DAY AFTER HE WENT 3 FOR 3 !! ...... BIRD IS NOT HITTING, BUT HE IS NOW BEING POSITIONED TO BE A PART TIME PLAYER WHICH IS NOT WHAT THIS TEAM NEEDS, LONG TERM.....HE NEEDS TO PLAY ALMOST EVERY DAY...AGAINST LEFTIES TOO (CHRIS SALE ASIDE).

My OTHER beef with Binders is that he sat Romine after a 5-RBI day.

Yeah yeah, I know, catchers get tired. And Joe is a former catcher, so he "knows" something or other.

But . . .

Austin R is a 28-year-old. He's gotten the chance of a lifetime to DO something, to show something. Remember how well that worked out for Frankie Cervilli?

AND: He's likely to get plenty of rest starting in a week, when Sanchez comes back. REST IS COMING. No option for the kid. Joe will use him once a week, to catch Pineda.

I thought about this DURING the game, when the alternative catcher was responsible for leaving 5 people on base. And then again, when Romine came off the bench to play anyway (so much for needing "rest" -- ????).

Girardi is an idiot. He's the worst overmanager in baseball, unless CC is getting tagged. Then he does nothing until the 6th or 7th inning.

Mark this down. It's another loss that can be directly hung around Joey Binders' neck. All he has to do is do little, bring in Tommy Layne if he has to, whatever. But he can't help himself from showing what a genius he is.

Girardi was smart for 4 days but he was sure dumb yesterday.
Funny how that works.
As for Cervelli he started producing after taking steroids, got caught and suspended, and is now stinking again
