You're right, ALL-CAPS—and that worked out pretty well—but I meant the first time.
I looked it up, and yep: we sent him with a minor-league pitchers Bob Polinsky and Lamarr Hoyt to the Pale Hose for Bucky.
I don't think Polinsky ever made the show. Hoyt had that big year, won the Cy Young, but I think he developed a serious drug problem, and I don't mean the steroidal kind.
Hated to give up Gamble, but as I recall he wasn't too happy with how little playing time he was likely to get, once the Yanks signed Reggie. That gave them Mick the Quick, Jackson, Piniella, White, Carlos May, Paul Blair, and Jimmy Wynn in the OF already, with Whitfield in the wings.
(And we needed a shortstop, once Mickey Klutts got hurt.)

Got some big hits for us.
Rest in peace, Sir.
That 1976 season was something else. And we traded him in for Bucky, no?
Best 'fro in the majors. Ever.
Met him and Mick the Quick on River Ave. a few years back. Selling autographs before a game. Gentlemen both. RIP.
HOSS, I BELIEVE WE TRADED MICK THE QUICK FOR THE BIG O STRAIGHT UP.
QUICK MAN RIVERS WAS GREAT FOR US, BUT FINALLY WORE OUT HIS WELCOME WITH HIS "JONES" FOR THE TRACK, IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN.
I used to love the "Ask Oscar Gamble" advice column on "The Spitter"
He will be missed. RIP.
Doug K.
I only learned today that that ballcap was airbrushed on by Topps...it seems so obvious when you look at it for more than 1.2 seconds...
