I really hope this is the equivalent of what soldiers call "a good wound" in war—some kind of ailment that will not kill or seriously injure him, but make it so that he can no longer play the game of baseball.
Alas, it is reported to be only a "bicep strain." But isn't it POSSIBLE that his bicep has...I dunno, fallen out? That it is a degenerative condition that will leave him able to do absolutely everything but swing a bat?
