As much as I'm dying to see the Yankees and MLB play in the next month or so, I wouldn't ask the players to perform for a further pay cut. Oh, I'm not saying the players aren't themselves mostly greedy. But they never rise (or lower) to the level of the avaricious owners and guardians of baseball. Like in essence firing so many MiLB players just to cut corners. There is more than enough extra money to spread around. Sure, the owners cry losses yet they never have nor will they ever open the books to the MLBPA. It's also the reason that in modern times no baseball team owner has taken a loss selling their team. Not even the Expos or the constantly losing Marlins.
