As for the Yankees, we had some moments - (thank you, Mr. Judge) - but any year that does not end with a world championship, or at least a world series appearance - is a loser, and we now have endured 13 straight.
I don't know how anybody can figure next year's Yankees - with or without Judge - will be improved. But at least 2022 is done. They cannot hurt us anymore.

Yes, but at least we can now start the 1million different stories about where Judge will land, why he went where he did and how well that team will be immediate WS -bound.
Meanwhile, back on the ranch, BaBoone will be telling us that Donaldson spent a month with Carpenter to learn how to hit, Hicks is in the best shape of his life, Peraza may need just a few more years for seasoning in the MILB and Months is healthy after a gutty performance while hurt.
Cashman will repel off buildings.
Hal will mount a tv on his pony so he can watch soccer while he plays polo.

Only the MORONS FOUR: Cheapskate Hal, Genius Cashman, Fat Slob Randy and Lost Lon can and will.
This WS turned during the game that the Phillies hit 5 homers, Game 3. They scored all their runs on homers in that game and flubbed several chances to add more with runners on base. They got homer happy, undisciplined, in a matter of a few innings. That was a portent of things to come, as Philly became more and more undisciplined over the last three games. Conversely, it seemed the ASS-stros started having better and better at-bats over those last three games.
Philly relievers helped out by pitching poorly. In particular, I've identified one guy who would be the perfect addition for the Yankee bullpen, Alvarado. He must've allowed every inherited runner to score, while looking like Chapman or Dellin Betances. Wild pitches, walks, singles, gargantuan home runs, terrible command of the strike zone, you saw it all. He's perfect for the Yankees because he's got so called electric stuff, yet he can't get out of his own way, and he literally is his own worst enemy. This guy would be the perfect replacement for Chapman.
And WTF was Schwarber doing in the 8th inning with two strikes, trying to bunt and automatically striking out on a foul bunt? I think he had a total brain meltdown due to desperation. Not too good. He also would be perfect for Cashman to drag in as the new LF. A guy who hits tons of homers and melts down under pressure.
The most notable thing is that the ASS-stros made a ton of contact. Lots of singles, infield hits. With Phillies unable to turn double plays being very costly. ASS-stros Maldonado also stuck his left elbow out to get hit by that pitch and set up an inning. They hit some important homers also, but it was actually death by a thousand pricks.
The more fundamentally sound team won this series. The team that lost its discipline and tried to homer their way to a championship lost. (How do you win with three hits?) You hope that Yankee management watched and learned, but I think they were too busy working on their salary spreadsheets.
@JM, It was a mistake to take out Wheeler there, but they know him better than we do. Maybe they thought he was about to crack. Unfortunately, the guy who came in, Alvarado, couldn't have done more for the ASS-stros in this series if he had been their secretly planted mole.
I don't know who got the WS MVP, but if it were up to me, I'd say Alvarado was HOUSTON's MVP. This guy would be the perfect pickup for Cashman. Aaron Nola, Alvarado, and Schwarzer would be perfect additions for a team that aspires to make the playoffs and then fall on its face in the first or second round. Our coaching staff would start to work its magic, the pitchers's ERAs would increase by a run or more, Schwarzer would hit .175 with 50 homers and 60 RBI. Hey, Schwarzer could even lead off for us! Another problem solved. We'll have a home run hitter leading off, followed by two straight singles hitters. It can only happen in the upside down world of "Cashman in Wonderland".
And one final thing about this WS. Notice that neither manager had his best hitter batting 1 or 2. Dusty Baker had his best hitter, Alvarez, in the 3 slot. Thompson had his best hitter, Harper, in the cleanup slot. Both had their chances with guys on base. Alvarez finally crushed a 3 run homer in the finale. And that was the coup de grace.
If Musk purchased the Yankees, my 60 + years as a rabid fan would end in a heartbeat. I hope that peckerhead loses billions on Twitter. "Watch NY Yankee baseball exclusively on Twitter."
If George were still around, he would re-sign Judge, a top SS, starting pitcher, lights out closer and another top-notch outfielder. But he's dead, so Hal will do nothing other than count his money, stare at the interest additions on his bank statement (He's cheering on inflation) and scour the fashion magazines for the newest styles in ascots for the sail boat racing season just about to commence south of the equator.

Cashman's gotta be getting close to longest tenured GM in history. Or at least the modern era (post WWII, let's say). Even if not the longest, it's astonishing longevity, with consistent above average performance. He can also claim several WS championships (yes, Watson, Stick, Buck, Torre and Zimmer made the dynasty, but he was there). They're going to put this SOB in the hall of fame someday.

If Cash gets another WS championship, I'll mellow. But right now, he's a compiler, the avatar of consistent above average returns but no true glory. A humorless, mediocre, boring, gray zero. He's the epitome of early 21st century baseball.
