“We had the magic carpet ride regular season with him doing what he did, and we wish we could have gotten farther in the postseason, but there is still work to be done and we would like to do that together with him, which means continuing to pursue that World Series dream… And we want Aaron Judge to be a part of that. If he’s willing and we can find common ground, despite the competition, there is more work to be done together.”

If we lose Judge, there are
other free agents out there.
Can't shake the feeling that the more Shallow Hal and Cooperstown Cashman - (quoted above) - publicly ejaculate their admiration for Aaron Judge, the less likely he is to stay.

They had a year to write love sonnets. Now, Hal must either write the biggest check... or wave goodbye.

Meanwhile, this happy talk offensive seems aimed less at Judge than at the Vinnys from Bayonne, who would spend the winter raging about disloyal players instead of greedy owners.

Other notes...

1. Congrats to Judge for winning the AL MVP. As ZacharyA has pointed out, Judge scored 28 out of 30 first place votes, the dissenters being Angels' beat writers. It should have been unanimous - three more hits, and Judge wins the Triple Crown - but the courtiers will keep their jobs by voting for Ohtani.

2. Within his recent charm offensive is the suggestion that Hal won't stop with Judge, that he'll don his daddy's pants and sign another big name. Why do I doubt this? Well, most of the big free agents play SS, which would undermine Cashman's 2022 strategy, when he dodged a wave of star shortstops to give Anthony Volpe and the Oswalds a year to grow. If the Yankees sign Carlos Correa or Trea Turner, what then? Do we start trading our top prospects again? Is Rick Rhoden available?

Here's the list of trade targets.

I didn't bother to sort for lowest mental toughness, but I'm sure Ca$hole will figure it out.

Every player coming up through our minor league system is always tradebait. Remember the Golden Rule of Yankees Development: Cashman will fuck it up if you just give him the chance.

Some context on Aaron Judge's 2022 season in franchise history...

60 HR
Babe Ruth (x1), Roger Maris (x1), Aaron Judge (x1)

1.100 OPS
Babe Ruth (x12), Lou Gehrig (x7), Joe DiMaggio (x1), Mickey Mantle (x3), Aaron Judge (x1)

200 OPS+
Babe Ruth (x10), Lou Gehrig (x3), Mickey Mantle (x3), Aaron Judge (x1)

10 WAR
Babe Ruth (x9), Lou Gehrig (x2), Mickey Mantle (x3), Aaron Judge (x1)

390 Total Bases
Babe Ruth (x4), Lou Gehrig (x5), Joe DiMaggio (x1), Aaron Judge (x1)

That is some good company to join.

Ohtani didn't win the MVP because a bunch of the voters were caught up in his Ponzi scheme. Probably.

What was his Ponzi scheme?

Amen, Duque.

Couldn't help notice that these last two covers put the Yankees at 200 for the year—for the sixth straight season, the most covered, talked-about, watched, and well-attended sports franchise in a town where there are nine, big-league teams.

If Judge goes...do the Yanks clear 100?

It is still my contention that the team will re-sign Judge to the largest contract in team history.

1) Judge MVP

Congrats to Aaron Judge on his richly deserved MVP and to our own Horace Clark 66, whose anti-Othani screeds clearly turned the tide in Judge's favor.

2) Mildred

Central and Western NY ain't Honesdale. Rochester in the winter is colder than, Josh Donaldson, Aaron Hicks, and Kyle Higashioka put together. (So, basically as cold as the Yankee lineup against the Astros.) At least Cornell has hills to make the wind work harder.

What ever she picks you must be proud of her. Congrats to you and your wife for a job well done.

3) Signing Aaron Judge.

I know that he's on the wrong side of 30 but you know what? He's a true Yankee and should be our next Captain. We gave 25M a year to a shithead 3B on the wrong side of 30 (actually the wrong side of 35!) whose steamer trunk had too many stickers. And yes, that didn't work out but the fan based never liked him. Ever.

This is our guy. We drafted him! Pay him. If he sucks in five years, so what? Plus the Yankees will make at least 20M back selling lice ridden "Here Comes the Judge" wigs.

@Horace...

Ohtani was a big player in the FTX cryptocurrency business, something I don't pretend to know anything about or even care about. He's being sued in a class action suit for being a big promoter of FTX.

@Doug K...

Thank you sir. We are extremely proud of her.

Mildred, I was once a stunning piece of ass.

Congratulations to the Great Aaron Judge.

Thanks, Doug—and well said! Congratulations indeed, Mildred! Cornell is a truly great school.

And yes, Mildred, that IS a Ponzi scheme, all those jerks who backed it deserve to be sued—unless, I guess, they pumped their own money into it.

Couldn't believe it when I saw them all shilling for that stuff. What's next? Wood alcohol? Shameful.
