Hooray for the youngsters. But wherever you look, the Yankees are mired in the middle of nowhere

They are out of the wild card race, nine games behind Houston and Texas.

And they probably won't draft in the Top Ten.
Thus, depending on their payroll, they might not even have a first round pick.

If we win every game from now on, we'll end up with 93 wins.

That would be hysterical. Impossible, but hysterical. Can we go 20-6? That might do it. 87 wins. Not impossible, but highly improbable. But what the hell. I've got nothing better to do.

We can only imagine what this season would have been like if Judge didn't stub his toe on the stupid concrete in LA. Can we sue them? It looks like he might have equaled or bettered last year's home run total.

This is all too much. A series win against Houston--in Houston? Sac flies, RBI singles, DOUBLE STEALS? Youth? Competent left field? LEFT-HANDED HITTERS??!! Who are these guys? Make it stop! It's too fun! We need to be punished somehow!

Of course, I don't need to tell you that this will likely feed the blame-the-players narrative that will yield us years (and years!) more of Cashman and Boone. That will be our punishment.

Maybe ownership would focus more on the Yankees if they were not distracted with A1 Padel, A.C. Milan, Man City, and NYCFC. As for the latter, all the games, for the most part, are on Apple TV+ and you don't hear much about them...probably because they are at the bottom of the table so to speak...

Well - tonight’s performance will be televised live on ESPN - so we’ll have Coney straight shooting his commentary “outside” of the KAYonnaise-driven YES booth.

Should hopefully make for a more interesting chatter.

Poor leadership by the Yankees buffons.

If it wasn’t for Hal and the bean counters, we’d be watching Fraunchy and Wlford Dildo right now. Hal realized he had to do something to get people interested in this team.. This may be a good sign going forward

JM said...

You might have a point there, Celerino. Hal may be very influenced by bad press and incredibly negative fan and host reactions on sports radio. I hope he's really nervous.

For those of you at home wondering- www.KAYonnaise.com is still available.

Snag it now before somebody else says . . .

SEEYAH!

(seeyah.com has unfortunately already been acquired BUT is taking offers)

JM said...

I always spelled it "see ya!" Maybe that's available.

AboveAverage said...

How do you usually spell KAYonnaise, JM?

The Martian sends one to the moon!

Now I know why I feel so good tonight: The Big Stiff is not in the lineup

Celerino Sanchez said...

God forbid that the Martian could have been on this team, when you had Jake Bauer and Haystacks Calhoun.

Are they fucking adding sound effects when the pitcher throws the ball? What kind of childish bullshit is this? Plus they added a commercial insert during live action? I never watch anything on ESPN because their presentations are immature and lowbrow, so I guess I don’t know what to expect.

I turned it off…

I know this team is not going anywhere, but this is the first time all year I’ve enjoyed watching Yankees baseball.

And it’s no small pleasure that they’re potentially on the verge of sweeping the Asstros in Houston.

DickAllen said...

I feel you BTR. Listening to them talking to Altuve while he’s on the field makes me want to strap a bomb to my chest.

AboveAverage said...

Whose chest?

DickAllen said...

Well, more than likely Altuve’s

DickAllen said...

Fucking idiots. The guy interferes with play and it cost the Asstros. Now they’re turning him into a hero.

Schmucks.

Those were big outs…

That went a long way…

What is going on?

DickAllen said...

Exactly, ranger! This shot is FUN!

Getting rid of that asshole Donaldson and Bader, who rightly or wrongly was the embodiment of Cashalytics and all it stands for, has apparently done wonders for morale.

I know, DickAllen: I hate the whole idea of those in-game, on-field interviews. Even worse: if they keep doing them, SOMEBODY must like them. Even a lot of somebodies.

What's wrong with people???

Massive hat tip, AA. I played that Depeche Mode LP a lot in the early 80s when my first marriage went down the tubes. Even today, that adds an extra layer of melancholia to the melancholia that is Depeche Mode.

As for the Yankss (Martian tribute there), 25 games left. If we can win them all...okay, 19 of them. Though an amazing run in September is the perfect lead-in to the playoffs.

I know, I know. But come on. It's been a shitty season. A little, insane dream is the only baseball joy I've been able to wrest out of this summer. That and the IIH game at the Stadium.
