The Story of The Master. Now that'd be a great read.

Decent interview in today’s Post

Nice tribute at the Stadium. John looks a little frail, but sounds greats. I wish more former Yankees showed up in person. Tino made it (he looks great), but I guess all those other guys were too busy. (bitch, bitch, bitch...)

Nice parting gifts. That 83" TV is gigantic! Jesus.

It was a good tribute, straightforward and not a hint of cloying sentimentality. I think that’s what he wanted,

Let’s win one for the Lipper!

. . . was curious why the microphone wasn't gold . . .

I sure hope that the TV is professionally installed - you don't want Boone and Cashman messing it up.

"That's awful big. 80 inches."

I liked how the microphone and cuff links are "sterling" silver. Clever move.

Nestor looks good today. But Tampa doesn't seem like Tampa. Not quite the rivals they usually have been.

80 inches of Angela Lansbury, Publius.

OOOOOOH - they were Sterling Silver - now I get it JM.

The TV is an LG 83" OLED - nice monitor.

LOL, JM

Crashman installing that TV? He’d put a gigantic hole in the wall, like the gigantic holes he’s put in the roster.

At some point, there needs to be a conversation about Judge. He’s becoming an easy out now, can’t recognize or adjust to those low and away pitches with 2 strikes.

JM said...

Big strikeout there. Nestor throwing 94 mph. Nestor?

JM said...

BTR, what Judge is going through looks like more than a slow start. Something ain't right.

Pocono Steve said...

Grisham.

JM said...

Soto is otherworldly.

JM said...

Judge looks bad. Whiff, whiff, whiff. He can't hit. Wonder what's going on.

BTR999 said...

Judge missing those pitches by a lot.

Other than Soto, the offense seems to be in a coma.

The troika of Grisham, Jones, and Wells now 3-46 (all singles) on the season.

Caught the first half inning in the truck on sirius (non-electrified by gas-o-line). The Master sounds like he's retiring because of health issues. This can't be good.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

You haven't *really* heard Suzyn scream until she's been up close to an awful big 80 inches.

In an unrelated note, Johnny Wad was OK in the ninth.

Hinkey Haines said...

I’m taking May 3 in the “When will the Yankees score their next run?” pool.

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Someone should have told Bonehead that is was both John Sterling day AND Aaron Judge bobblehead day. Maybe he could have produced a lineup that didn't have Jah-mon Jones AND a career .214 hitter batting sixth. Wait, forget that last part. He does that every day.

Pocono Steve said...

We're saved. Torres is on deck.

Pocono Steve said...

What a feeble effort. Just put it out of its misery.

Pocono Steve said...

How did this team win 14 games?

Rufus T. Firefly said...

Pathetic

BTR999 said...

John sterling told Kay he was “exhausted”, so yeah, it’s a health issue however loosely you care to define it.

Meanwhile, this was a disgraceful effort. It showcased the weaknesses of the team I am totally absolving Soto, who must be wondering what the hell is going on here. The bottom 5 of this roster (fill in your own favs) could be released and the the team improved by whoever they brought in. I knew it was over when they brought Turd in. Chissakes, just cut him.

RE: Judge, this was an amateurish performance, striking out 4 times in a row on the same pitch without any kind of recognition or adjustment to his approach. We better hope it’s health related. In the meantime he needs to change something up. My take? He’s standing too far from the plate. Get closer! Stop with the check swings that get called a strike every time, and understand that every pitcher is going to throw that same pitch to you with two strikes until you lay off it.

This game was so goddam frustrating and infuriating! 🤬🤬🤬🤬

They look really bad.

Judge has to be hurt. He grimaced big time after his steal of second last night and kept grabbing his lower back.

This is a team that without Soto doesn't have 5 wins.

Also, since Volpe was made lead off he has dropped off a cliff. How about moving him back to seventh?

BTR999 said...

Totally agree about Volpe Doug. Problem is, this team is full of guys who should batting 7th. (Or lower)

can anyone bat eleventh ?

I also love something about the Dodgers placing Kyle Hurt on the 15-Day IL, but I can't figure out why.

@JM...I watched the ceremony. Echoing something I read, it looked hastily put together...like they got last minute gifts so they went out to Best Buy and bought the biggest TV they had in the store. The small microphone award looked really cheap and maybe the cuff links were as well (silver is cheaper than gold). They didn't have enough time as if, as someone else has suggested, there's something serious w/John's health he's not sharing. They got player reactions on the quick as there was no time to get veteran players up to the Stadium in time to be there. They didn't even have Michael Kay say anything which was odd...

I'm sure that they will put a plaque in Monument Park for John and they will have more time to do what the Yanks usually do, a great ceremony with planning...hopefully John will still be alive when that happens...
