Let us celebrate a night with no game: The last off-day of an off-year that threatens to become an off-decade.

Yank stats, last 15 days
According to one of the evil sports betting cartels - the real-life incarnation of Bond villains - the Yankees enter the final week of the 2026 season with a two (2) percent chance of winning the AL East.

Two percent.

Works for milk, I guess, though our batting order is more comparable to skim.

To win the AL East, all we must do is sweep Tampa, a superior club in nearly every category, which brings to NY its usual, hateful vendetta issues, while having won eight of its last 10...

While we rest a lost and tweakable Aaron Judge and an overworked bullpen, gasping for air.

While we rehab Jazz Chisholm and ask him to accept a platoon role at 2B, destroying his chance for a golden contract next winter.

While we try to assess what's wrong with Gerrit Cole and how to fix him, without mentioning his age. (Thirty-six.)

While we decide who in creation will play 3B and CF.

While we prepare to ask for even more from Cam Schlittler.

It's like we're a week into Armageddon and still figuring out the musical playlist. But tonight, no game. (Unless we want to torture ourselves and watch the Jersey Gints.)
