Better but not BETTER
Looks like Rickie Ricardo will continue to do the play-by-play through the weekend (with Suzyn, of course) for the redsock series.
We wish the Master a speedy recovery and in his absence, here are a few vintage images of our hero.

Double Your Pleasure?
The Posts' Ken Davidoff, obviously fighting off the doldrums of winter, posits that the Houston Astrogliders are becoming clones of the small-market redsocks. And to make his case, Ken mentions the guys our fearless GM Cashman is pursuing.
Weak tea, Kenny; mysterious are the ways of C-Money. And clearly unfathomable to a mere Post baseball bloviator.

Consider the sources
Small-market would-be evil empirettes the redsocks have begun their 2018 disinformation campaign.
Sad! Bigly!
From arch-enemy Fox-News-of Baseball NESN
And Pravda on the River Charles:
1. You hear a lot of stuff at the Winter Meetings. Here’s one rumor told to me by a longtime, major force in the baseball world. It involves the Yankees and Giancarlo Stanton. The story goes that after 2018, the Yankees deal Stanton to the Dodgers and sign Bryce Harper. Your first reaction is, “Wow! Never happen.” Then you start to think about it. Stanton is an LA kid. The Dodgers didn’t have great interest in Stanton this offseason, but perhaps by the end of next year? The Yankees have always coveted Harper and his lefthanded stroke at Yankee Stadium. It starts to make more sense, doesn’t it?
Uh, sure it does. (is that our old pal Pete Abe on the right?)

Newsflash: ESPN stops pretending it's impartial, openly roots for the Red Sox
Note the headline. To ESPN writers, the redsocks are "our" team.
It's official. The ESPN folks can openly declare their love for the redsocks, and admit to the world that they are part of redsocks (abomi)Nation.
I know, I know, the fact that ESPN stands for the "Everything Sox Programming Network" is something that most Yankees fans have long known. Still, it was refreshing to see that the guys at ESPN.com have decided to lift the cloak, end the charade and stop the silly pretending that they are impartial.
Any day now, expect the Baseball Tonight folks to start wearing their redsocks lapel pins ... because being a sports journalist doesn't mean they can't declare their patriotism to redsocks Nation.

Our third donation to the National Portrait Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution: Big Papi, David Ortiz
If Peter Gammons can donate portraits than so can we!
Our first donation: Pedro Martinez
Our second donation: Our esteemed commissioner, Bud Selig

Peter Gammons donates portrait of Pedro Martinez to the Smithsonian ... can we donate one, too?
Yes, the completely unbiased ESPN reporter donated the Pedro portrait to the Smithsonian.
So, can we donate one too? How about this one?
I mean, it's more of a pop-art style, but I think it sums things up pretty well.

Onward to Liverpool!
Having completed his rebuilding of the vaunted redsocks, master sports architect John Henry is setting his sights on working the same magic on English "football."
Go get 'em!

Redsocks to county: "Drop dead but give us your money!"

Poised to receive an unbelievable $75 million for a new spring training facility from impoverished, real-estate-disaster ground-zero Lee County, the redsock brain trust refused to share vital information with their benefactors.
Typical douchebaggery from John Henry's gang.

Why We Fight

Red Sox complicity in U.S. torture flights
They feed their own fans prison food
They're bigger racists than Joe Torre
Their groundskeepers are thugs
Varitek clawed A-Rod's face, kept his own mask on
Schilling poured ketchup on his sock, called it blood
They decapitate their players when they're done with them
Big Papi has it in for Joba for no reason

Beckett suspended

The redsocks ace, pictured here with his domestic partner, "Lil' Youkie," threw high heat right at Bobby Abreu's head. He'll be sitting it out for a little while. Keepin' it classy, Josh.

Recruitment, redsocks style
Crib-snatching; a new low, even for Boston.
Easy to break a longstanding gentleman's agreement when you're not a gentleman, apparently.
