The Real Barrier: Will an African-American Ever Manage the Yanks?

Hate to be a spoilsport, but what Obama did was comparatively easy.

Get elected to the chickenshit job of President of the United States?

Bah. Pttuui. Small potatoes.

The question that still haunts America is this...

When will the one supreme position of power no longer be off-limits to minorities?

Yankee Manager.

It’s one thing to walk with Tom Jefferson and Abe Lincoln. It’s another to be standing up there with Joe Torre and Stump Merrill.

Will we ever live to see that golden day of equality?

Who will be the first African-American to break down the door and don that Yankee managerial cap? Willie Randolph? Don Baylor? Mariano?

Or must we wait for Jeet?

I vote for Dusty Baker for change you can believe in. He might enjoy the American League.

Forgot to say I'm posting a link to It Is High on my blog roll. I'd love it if you'd add my Confessions of a She-Fan blog to your roll. You guys make my day.

If Derek Jeter ever wants the job, it is his for the asking.

I cant see Jeter needing that.

Is that Curt the Ketchup Boy crying?

I was about to argue that Jeter isn't black, but he's just as black as Obama is. Oh well.

Also: fuck Dusty Baker. He's borderline retarded when it comes to managerial decisions.

And re: Curt... he's actually taking it like a man unlike those crazy fuckers who attended McCain's concession speech last night. He just got a lot of respect from me.. which still gives him about as much respect as I have for Bud Selig.

Dusty Baker? God no. The only worse option would be Joe Morgan.

As for Jeter, "He ain't all the way black," as Sheffield put it. I'd also be shocked if Jeter wanted to manage someday. He doesn't strike me as someone who would want the job.

I do believe there will be one someday (Randolph perhaps?), but it needs to be someone qualified...
