Runk blog ends: Clint Eastwood Frazier hangs one high

Watched bottom of the ninth, expecting to lose. Had been drinking outside. Wandered in for a refill. Saw Didi's lead-off walk on four pitches. Didn't get hopeful. Headley struck out. Gave the finger to the TV. Michael Kay had the gall to suggest that Ellsbury was a threat to "hit one out" - he has 4 home runs - gave the finger to the juju gods. That usually doesn't work. Yesterday, maybe they relented. Frazier came up...

My head hurts. Tomorrow, I'll be better. But lemme say this...

If all we fucking do in 2017 is unveil Judge, Severino, Hicks, Montgomery and Mr. Clint Frazier - I'll take it. I'm royally pissed about the injuries to Glyber Torres and Dustin Fowler - especially Fowler; next time we play the White Sox, we should have metal spikes sticking out of the walls - but they're young. (And at least the injury means they can't trade Fowler.) With Gary Sanchez, we will contend next year.

What? Greg Bird? Who's he? I no longer think about Greg Bird. Nothing against him. Just not worth the angst. Wait: Can anybody tell me why Ji-Man Choi didn't start yesterday? Guy hits two home runs in two games, then he's benched - for Austin Romine, a catcher playing 1B? Did I miss something? What in Joe's binders could possibly rationalize that? I mean, was he resting Choi? Just before the All-Star break? Guy was hot. So he sits? WTF? I need a drink. Maybe Joe does, too.

And he will sit Frazier today, for the same (lack of ) reason.

"Well Alphonso I didn't like the match-up. Frazier has never faced (Brewers Starter) before and I didn't want him to be overwhelmed" - Binders Joe

And Duque you haven't updated the back page standings for the past couple of days. How am I supposed to know who's in line to win the "Woody Johnson - Rex Ryan Win the Back Pages Memorial Trophy"?

Professor Tanaka got body slammed, but the redheaded kid got us back in the game.

This is classic recent-era Yankees. They suck for so long, you just think, "Screw it. Trade everybody but the kids. Go total youth. Maybe next year." Then they win a couple or a few, and suddenly you read that Cashman is looking to trade for...a closer? What? And maybe that other guy, to boot. Why? Who knows? It's Cashmantown, Jake.

I want these guys to win. Every time out. Take the division, take the AL, take the Series. That may be unrealistic, but it's genetic. Ingrained. Can't help it.

Negativity is a shield against disappointment. We all know that. Plus, given the past seven years, it's not unreasonable.

The fear is, they play just well enough to goad Cashman and Co. into doing something stupid. Trading good young players for some lugnut, who we rent for a few months or, worse, are stuck with for a few years because we're paying him too much to bench or release.

Past performance is no guarantee of future results. But with this organization, you can't help but think they'll find some way to fuck everything up, just when we're starting to get there.

You can't predict baseball, but the front office is something else.

This team is so bad. How many innings do they plan on getting the first two guys on base and not scoring a single run? Let's say they make it to the playoffs, they will get swept in the ALDS because they can't hit any pitcher that is above average and they strikeout way too much.

HOW SILLY OF ME TO THINK WE WOULD WIN TODAY!
I REALLY BELIEVED IT...
UNTIL, I SAW THE DAYTIME RECORD OF OUR ACE (TANAKA).
I ALMOST FELL OFF MY RECLINER.
I DIDN'T KNOW THOSE STATS UNTIL THE 1ST INNING WITH 2 RUNNERS ON.
THEN CAME THE 3 RUN BLAST.

HIS NUMBERS ARE SO BAD IN THE DAY, THAT NOW I'M THINKING GIRARDI IS NUTS TO PITCH HIM ANYTIME OTHER THAN NIGHT GAMES.

FUCK IT, WE WERE 1 FOR 16 WITH RISP.
CAN'T WIN THAT WAY, NO MATTER WHAT....FUCK IT.

THANK GOD FOR THE BREAK.
WE ALL NEED IT.

Is Judge only capable of hitting before the 9th inning. I swear he strikes out every single time he's up in the ninth. People rode A-Rod for years for that, so he better pick it up.
