Whose team this is I think I know
His house is down in Florida, though
He would not mind me stopping here
To watch said team while I drink my beer
Unless I try to do it for free
That's not the Yankee way, you see
For every privilege we must pay our due
Even a bleacher seat with obstructed view
The writers must all think it queer
To watch without some has-been here
They give their little brains a shake
And say not to waste the future is a grave mistake
The fools are rancorous, many, and loud
But we have kids of whom to be proud
And many wins to savor before we win it all
So much fun to have before they win it all.

Thanks, guys. You know, it got me a little choked up, too. If we trade for Gerrit Cole: a rendition of Eliot's "The Wasteland."
So, getting down to Soccer v. Yankees: It seems that one Rory Smith (younger brother of Stephen A.?) has a twice-a-week column at the Times, unlike any other sporting scribe there.
Today, he informed us that Barca is getting too old.
It seems that for "the Loungers," as they're nicknamed, "A haphazard approach to transfers contrasts sharply with that of Real Madrid." Much like syncopated rhythm, apparently haphazard transfers can drive you mad.
The wire service tidbits were dominated by "Costly Barcelona Player Returns in Copa Draw," and "Tottenham and West Ham Draw." Honey-Baked and Glazed Ham also drew, while Green Eggs had a bye week.
Soon, they should start calling themselves The Soccer Times: All the News That's Fit to Boot.
