Okay, so, following up on my idea that the Times should not be left out of the tabloid back pages fun, I've decided to keep a daily count of soccer v. Yankees articles in the NYT.
It promises to be a big year for the Yanks...but also for soccer, with the World Cup. Knowing the Times, I think this is a pick'em contest.
I am not counting wire service grafs, boxscores, or the like. Nor am I counting articles on baseball in general, such as today's piece about the Hall of Fame voting. Just Yankees and soccer, in the print edition of the country's "Paper of Record."
And so, our count today is:
