Yes, it can get worse.

Reportedly, Brian Cashman is looking to acquire this man: Randal Grichuk.

No, it's not a joke.

Grichuk is a 31-year-old, right-handed hitter, whom you may remember from his four years with the Blue Jays, when he hit all of .243. Moving to the hitter-friendly confines of the Rocky Mountains, Grichuk—in part-time duty—is a .337 hitter at home...and a .282 hitter on the road.

The big plan of The Brain? Have Grichuk—a mediocre outfielder—platoon in left field with Jake Bauers, the bumbling, converted first baseman and .218 hitter (.222 versus righties!) we currently have out there much of the time.

It's hard to know what to say about this—though "a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing" does come to mind.

The last thing the nearly all-right-handed Yankees lineup needs—in a ballpark specifically built, just 14 years ago, for lefties—is another righty bat. Particularly another mediocre one.

The only player on the market the Yankees should be interested in is Cody Bellinger—who Cashman could have signed for a mere $25 mill over two years, in the off-season.

Had he scooped up him, and/or Masataka Yoshida, the Yankees, even with all their toe-jammed miseries, would probably be fighting for the division title just now, instead of watching the wild card slip out of their grasp like Norman Lloyd trying to hang onto the Statue of Liberty in Saboteur.

Yes, it can always get worse.

Can we file an injunction to stop this trade? Or any others?

I’m still standing by stance that the window for this team closed with the Donaldson/Ikf trade and our only
Hope is some of the kids pan out and are ready for 2025. Yea, I’m already writing off 24

Hoss? Of course it can always get worse. That is well understood and uncontroversial, no?

The horror. The horror.

Grichuk is a Yankee killer extraordinaire. Unfortunately for him, that's all he does. If he played the same way against everyone else that he does against the Yankees, he'd be a surefire Hall of Famer.

He gets up for the Yankees. Or it could be that we have no idea how to pitch to him. It figures that Brainless Cashman would want this guy. So Grichuk comes here and never hits. Because the only pitching he hits is Yankee pitching. Which won't be pitching to him any more. Perfect! If they get him, this would be another one of the exhibits supporting the theory that Cashman is purposefully trying to NOT win a championship.

Typical Genius, who is anything but. Yankees are an almost all right handed lineup. This does not matter. Mike Fishman tells The Genius what the analytics say and he follows. Cashman is a man in a high position and he continues to flub things. It is comical because he is given a free pass to do so. The following is the rseult of A Cashman Constructed Roster. The Yankees are fifth in most 1-2-3 innings; 5th in most 7 pitch innings; 4th in six pitch innings; in 5 pitch innings they are tied for 2nd. In 24 games opposing starters have gone 7 innings against The Yankees. Today the Yankees have reinstated Willie Calhoun and DFAed him. An example of the great Cashman leadership. He brings in stiffs who revert to the back of their baseball cards and discards them. And this continues. I heard this on a podcast and somebody correct me if this is incorrect. If the Yankees waited a year instead of bring in Giancarlo, who if he ran any slower would be dead; the Yankees could have signed Machado and Harper and they would have been three million cheaper than IKF and Done aldson. Hal, allow this bald headed geek to destroy the franchise.

Just to play devil's advocate, isn't Grichuk a little too young for Brainless? They should wait another 2-3 years before making this move.

And who would Brainless give up for Grichuk? I'd say probably Brito, Vasquez, and Austin Wells. Maybe even more, because the guy is only 31 years old.

I say that a better Brainless trade would be to move the entire farm system for Salvie Perez of the Royals. He's 33 years old and also checks all the boxes. That would pretty much guarantee that the Yankees would NOT win a championship for at least the next five years. But at the same time, all the press brown nosers will applaud it as a genius move that makes the Yankees instant championship contenders for the next five years. It would be a coup de tat!

"He gets up for the Yankees"

Did you mean that he gets THE HAMMER for the Yankees?

It used to be called THE HORN during the Derek and Clive days of old.

Just did an online round up at lunch, not much chatter regarding trades.

Dreck. Cashman moves are nothing but dreck.

No team in the history of baseball won a championship with a player named Grichuk on their roster...you can look it up...

"The Yankees announced Friday that they’ve reinstated reigning American League MVP Aaron Judge from the 10-day injured list. Infielder Oswald Peraza was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move."

Why did they send him down? Let me guess... their marginal outfielders are out of options?

Idiotic.

Wait until everyone sees Boone power spraying aerosol cheese down his pie hole during the game tonight.

It's going to be special.

Oh, and why can't Nicolas Cage be our manager instead?

BTR999 said...

Doug, they ARE all of options.
But no truth to the rumor that Peraza will be given Florial’s locker after the season.

I see your point about trades by this Genius.

Reminds me of , "Oh matey, would you move my deck chair to the starboard side of the Titanic please."

BTR999 said...

Judge in the lineup at DH tonight, Stanton will be walking after the balls in RF

Peraza’s demotion indicates that Torres will survive the trade deadline.

Reports say that the Yanks and Cubs are discussing a package of prospects for Bellinger.

Mildred Lopez said...

Astros also looking at Bellinger. Verlander too now that the Smet decided to sell

The grueling loss delay is over. Play ball! Poorly!

Been a while since I had a game on. I dunno about those Yanks, but John Sterling sounds great. He sounded so weak before he went on the DL. Whatever he had, he’s over it.

9 up, 9 down for these stalwarts who have seen all of 28 pitches through the first 3 innings. They seem to be in a rush to get back to the hotel. Is there a stripper’s convention in town?

BTR999 said...

Man those BLT “City Connect” unis are hard on the eyes. Who is selecting them? Must be analytics.

Stanton with an awful AB with runners on.
Judge or no Judge, this offense stinks. And by stinks I mean they’re putrific*

*I made that word up 😵

Fuck

BTR999 said...

Welp, there you have it.
The Return Of Judge.
The offense still offensive

The bigger joke is that the nerd, geek, arrogant, putz is afforded the opportunity to keep fucking up the situation over and over. Plain and simple.
