Letter to the Editor... "It's no wonder..."

Obscene salary

Dear Editors,

Re "Yankees land Sabathia for record $161 million," Sports, Dec. 11:

In this day and age, when teachers are struggling to make ends meet, the Yankees will be giving a pitcher $161 million for seven years.

That comes out to $23 million a year. There are thousands of teachers who don't even make $50,000 a year. It is no wonder that it costs so much to see professional sports events.

Teachers should get paid even less. The majority of them are worthless people.

Amen, Anon.

Add nurses to the list. I'm sick of them dipping into the public till.

I agree with Animus and Duque.

How about someone write about the Yankees donating millions every year to charities. Or the nice gestures they do for people who have come upon hard times.

(IE: Million dollars donated to the victims of the Virginia Tech shooting and the charity baseball game.) They don't even have a connection with Virginia Tech.

But the Steinbrenners are all assholes.
