Yanks Hit the Wall with Abreu

Good guy. Great smile. Plays balls off the wall.

Fine hitter. Great plate discipline. Plays balls off the wall.

Solid citizen. Hits for average. Plays balls off the wall.

How many times last year did opposing outfielders kill our rallies, catching balls that Abreu would have turned on and played off the wall?

It's over. Rather than offer arbitration, and risk the chance that he accepts, we're basically cutting ties with Abreu.

We're showing caution.

We learned from a master.

And Manny will be our starting LF.

Now that it's too late, can anyone explain Sterling's "sweet as candy" Abreu routine? I don't get it. Seriously.

His proper nickname is "el come dulce" which means candy-eater in spanish. "sweet as candy" is Sterling's more generous interpretation.

I would have offered Bobby arbitration and a lifetime supply of Xanax. The guy drives in 100 runs a season. We can fix the wall phobia.
