HE'S GOT TWO YEARS LEFT. WHATEVER THE YANKEES HAVE TO PAY HIM NEXT YEAR GOES TOWARDS THE $189 MILLION CAP. EVEN IF IT'S $1 MILLION, THAT'S $1 MILLION THAT THEY'LL BE GIVING TO VERNON FRIGGIN WELLS WHILE WORKING WITHIN THE CONFINES OF A LIMITED PAYROLL.

$5 million a year for Vernon Wells, no problem. Johnny Damon probably would have taken league minimum, and I guarantee he could hit .222 this season. At least. Plus Johnny D is, you know, left-handed? Which is kind of advantageous for a past-his-prime hitter in Yankee Stadium? Looking forward to all those warning track outs from Mr. Wells.
